Default Closing by Mail

We are closing by mail on our home in Gilchrist on May 1. We have not yet received a closing package of documents from the Villages which will be needed at the closing. For those of you who closed by mail, how long in advance before the closing should I expect to receive the closing materials?

I've called TV closing department and they referred me to their attorney McLin & Burnsed. I'm waiting for a call back from the person responsible for the closing.

I closed on a Thursday. The packet arrived Monday. You sign in a few dozen places, some require a notary, most do not. There should be an overnight envelope to send it all back

We are closing on a property "in person" on Wednesday, the 24th, and have yet to receive a packet of closing materials with check amounts, etc. We too called the closing office on Friday afternoon...had to leave a message. We have yet to receive a call back.

I did not get my closing package until thr Friday before the Monday of the closing. I made many phone calls to both Citizens and McLin and Burnsed ( don't even get me started on these people). It was a very frustrating process. It all worked out OKbut the left hand didn't know what thr right hand was doing. I contacted Both organizations by mail after the closing. I got a call back from the president of the bank and a generous gift certificate. I got a very defensive letter back from McLin. Never again will I deal with either of these organizations. Good luck, just have patience, lots of patience!

If a cash transaction, you can sign forms emailed to you, scan them, and then email then back. We have just done this for our closing - all done in a single day!

Seems to me we got ours within a week of closing. Nail biting time for sure.

I have great faith that it will arrive on time. No one on this forum in my memory has ever said they didn't get their packet in time.

In fact the post above is the first time I have heard anything but good things about how smooth the process goes when handled by McLinn and Burnsed.

We closed by mail when buying the first house.

We closed in person when selling it, they handled everything, we didn't have a realtor.

We closed on the house we recently built, again, all smooth.

McLinn and Burnsed is affiliated with the developers.

Who I admire.

I just haven't heard anything but good things and heavens knows they probably handle more house closings per day, month and year than any one firm in this country. Think about it.

We closed May 25, 2013. Cannot believe it is a year. One wonderful year. Our closing was perfect and we used an outside mortgage company. McLinn and Burnsed had our papers when we arrived. I loved our closing. It was done so classy. Made us feel like millionaires!!!!!

Brought our house from a picture. We live in Mass and didn't see the house for 6 months when we went down there for a 2 week stay.
Like everyone says, closing by mail is easy.

We closed here in California last Friday by mail. Got the package late Wednesday afternoon. I had previously scheduled a mobile notary to be there. Had to round up two non-relative witnesses at the last minute. Took about an hour to do the signing. Overnighted the package back Thursday morning. It is nerve-raking. A lot can go wrong at the last minute. In my case I was on jury duty and couldn't just take a few hours off for personal business. They cut it sooo close. We didn't even have the Loan Commitment from Citizens. It showed up Saturday! Good Luck.

As mentioned in the attached quote, we closed on April 10th and everything was done via e-mail and went smoothly.............The Village's Closing Department did an excellent job and were very helpful answering our questions.

I will, of course, agree with our beloved GarcieGirl, she who knows all!

I have never before heard any complaints against McLin & Burnsed. Indeed, not only did they supervise my closing in January 2005, but they have twice assisted me in rewriting my various end-of-life documents, all with minimal hassle, and with great attention to detail and concerns.
