Bison Valley is part of the Villages and fully accessible via golf cart....does not have to be street legal. However this village has no amenitites, no pool but people seem to get along fairly well there. This is a great location and outstanding property for families to live in...especially if you have someone associated with the Villages or can get your children into the VIllages Charter School.

STAY AWAY from PARKWOOD which is next to Bison Valley off Rte 101. It is not part of the Villages , has no golf cart access and ...well just talk to people (and lawyers) before you sign anything there.

Remember,if you move into these mentioned, your children cannot attend the villages charter school. They would probably have to attend the Wildwood school system. The Villages Charter School is a private charter school.

I plan to work in the villages. I do cosmetology, so getting the job, should be easy. I planned that in advance. LOL. I really have my sights set on instructiing at the salon school, and/or working at one of the many salons. Then my daughter could attend the charter school. I am looking forward to building a clientele of you wonderful people! I'm so excited, to learn, ( Thanks again, to everyone that responded to my questions.) That its all possible! My husband Paul, I, have been to the villages twice, since 2001, visiting friends, and were doing a preview this winter. Remember my name, when you need cosmetology services next year! Ill be around.

I just have to respond to Count'n the days, you're making me cry. We have 3 boys, sounds like about the same age as yours. We know the memorys. Our beautiful daughters adoption was just final last week! We only want the best for her. Coincidentally, I'm touched that you gave your heart felt parental advise. I've researched, and am confident, that she can be provided a wonderful life there. Where we live in central Ohio, is not nice in my opinion, I'm thinking, that there must be sports, and activities for my daughter to be involved in there too. . As far as amentities go, we don't golf. Ill have a pool, and how close is the nearest beach? A lot closer than here. I plan to be busy doing hair. If I joined a club, it would be a hair club. LOL.

Donna, please double check before you make any decisions - I think you have to be employed by The Villages organization, not just work in the Villages, in order for your kids to attend the Charter School.

There are three villages, developed by THE VILLAGES, that were developed primarily for employees and which allow children. The three are: Bison Valley; Oak Meadows; and Spring Arbor. You can go on The Villages website - preowned homes for sale and search by village for all preowned homes for sale in those three villages. The Villages - Florida's premier active adult retirement community. Search Resale Homes

Default Being from central Ohio myself........

And...I would bet the schools in Marion, Ohio would probably be a little better than the local schools that are not Charter.

We simply have an older population generally in Florida and many do not vote for school improvements.

Check it out. A good education is a wonderful privilege.

Donna,
I am glad you feel that things will work out for you as far as employment and your daughter going to the charter school. Be careful! do your homwork. You mentioned working at the beauty school. Employment at the beauty school will not qualify her for the charter school. It is not on Villages property Your daughter qualifies for enrollment under Category III(See Skybo's post) There are only 5 or 6 solons in The Villages where you can work. Root 466 at Southern Trace I know is one,

Sumter County seems to be doing OK.
Sumter County Ranks Among Top Ten in 2011 Florida School Districts Ranking
Tallahassee - Sumter County School District ranked tenth in the list of 67 state school districts in a numerical ranking released today by the Florida Department of Education. The district-by-district ranking is the first phase of an initiative that will soon include a list of all of the schools in the state ranked by number within the three main school groupings: elementary, middle and high school. The goal is to make it easier for parents to assess school district performance.

The Wildwood bias never seems to end on TOTV. You might be right but to convict without the facts is another thing.

And depending on the location they pick for their home it might be Lady Lake Elementary on Rolling Acres? No? I would think that is where kids from Spring Arbor would go since that is Lake County, I believe.
