Talking Noobie (almost)

I'll be moving to TV (Summerhill) on 11/2. Lived in/around Chicago all my life. Looking forward to not shoveling snow. Sixty years old. Retired. Spent my career in computers, first in programming, then in management. Closet nerd. I like to cook (and eat). Looking for new friends, helpful hints, tips, words of wisdom, free advice (i know, you get what you pay for) or anything else you think I might find useful or interesting. Thanks for your input!.

John, If you can cook, you'll make a lot of friends at the numerous neighborhood block parties when you show up with a few of your specialties.

John,

My hubs, Jim, likes to cook too. We have been married 7 years and I have gained nearly 20 pounds. I, too, am a computer person - but still work.

We bought a Bridgeport - primarily because of the kitchen. We then proceeded to add LP gas, sell of the GE appliances we were obliged to purchase (think that has changed now) and install a Wolf range and SubZero fridge. Life is good!

Hi John, congrats on your upcoming move to TV! You'll fit right in, I am sure of it. Gotta love a man that can cook!

My husband can cook better than I can (or at least I let him think that).

I'm an ex-computer person myself...still miss the challenges to this day but not the corporate BS.

Wishing you many many wonderful years in TV! Let the fun begin!

Congratulation John... You will not regret your move to TV....
First of all, you MUST come to the Crispers lunch in November. There you will meet most of us on this forum. I bet we'll have a lot of newbies there and most of the snowbirds will be back so it should be a great luncheon.

I see on another thread that you have 2 LEFT FEET?? Do not worry, we only use the men to dance slow dances anyway, (only kidding)..... but between us, we can teach you to dance, we don't do very formal stuff, just a lot of moving and shaking. You'll enjoy the fun and banter just by being there and its not important to know how to dance.

Let us know when you are settled in and we'll set up a meet and greet with all the singles in the group (we even allow some marrieds to join us too). You'll have a great time. WELCOME ABOARD!!!!

You must not have heard what I consider to be the official joke of The Villages:

A man sits down next to a woman at Spanish Springs. Man says, “Mind if I sit here?” “Oh, no” says the woman. “I haven’t seen you around here before.”
“I used to live here,” says the man, “but I just got out of prison for killing my wife.”
“Oh,” says the woman, “… so you’re single.”

2 left feet? Not to worry.

Congratulations, Johncancook. The best is yet to come!

We're not in TV yet, but hope to follow your lead soon. Leave a trail We'll pick it up near Champaign and follow it the rest of the way.

Leaving Chicago on Saturday with an overnight in Chattanooga. Will be in TV permanently on Sunday. Use your GPS to pick up the trail!

Have a safe trip, John. We'll see you when you get here. Just sent you a PM so we can connect with you. Crispers lunch is always the 3rd Friday of every month but we'll see you before the Nov lunch, I'm sure.
