Default PayPal account

PayPal is the best and safest online to pay/transfer Money.
You can link you paypal account to a bank account or credit card. You can send or receive money to/ from anyone with a paypal account. Just get their paypal email and send it. Once you set up paypal look for add additional funding sources to add credit card, etc.

So, if I chose to pay a bill via PayPal, how does this work? Do I need to 'deposit' the funds in advance, do I need to make the transfer AFTER getting a message from PayPal, do I need to setup a link from PayPal to a bank account so it is automatically paid?
Finally, has anyone had problems with UNAUTHORIZED withdrawals by PayPal?

Thank you in advance.
I link a credit card to paypal for payments. That way I have protection afforded any credit card transaction, and my credit card number is not shared with vendors with whom I seldom do business.

Not exactly. See Post No. 15.

Same with me. Linked to a credit card and have had no problems with hundreds of transactions.
PayPal, because of their buyer protection guarantees, are my preferred payment options on purchases if available. I will not sell through PayPal though.

I've had a PayPal account for over 20 yrs. I initially set it up for buying and selling on EBAY but since have used it for purchases with many online vendors. I've also used it for rent payments from tenants and other person to person transactions. I've kept an account balance largely created by online selling but also have credit card and bank account links. Never had a problem. Lately, I've learned they will even do bitcoin transactions. You don't have to buy a $90,000 bitcoin but you can purchase a $10 item with a fraction of a bitcoin that PayPal obtains from a third party using your dollar funds. I came across a vendor that wants payment in bitcoin. Not sure if I want to deal with that vendor for other reasons but cryptocurrency will likely be part of the future and PayPal offers what seems to be a safe and easy way to dip one's toe in the cryptocurrency waters.

Default Two ways

Keep in mind that PayPal allows you to either check friends and family which is totally non-refundable or business to business which gives you a little more safety.
And if you link into a credit card then you have the additional safety of complaining to your credit card.
Years ago I actually had $15,000 withdrawn for my credit card and I very easily denied it
In PayPal's defense they did try to call me to verify but I did not pick up because I was in the movies. I would have thought they would have waited for a phone call but they didn't, more than 20 years ago of course and I think the systems are a lot better now

If you link your bank account, either checking (preferred) or savings in PP, you can then transfer funds into your bank account. What I do is have my checking account linked and then also link a credit card for paying bills.
