Hi All - I'll be joining TV in a few weeks and tonight for some reason, the nerves have taken over. I'm wondering if I did the right thing, etc., etc., etc., I think I've done due diligence and see that there is a great deal to do but guess jitters are normal. Anyone else experience this type of thing before they moved?

Diane,
If it makes you feel any better, we have lived in Tampa for 15 1/2 years and I have "jitters" about moving to T.V. We have looked at T.V. for 10 years and have just bought. I think no matter how many times you've visited, and no matter how far you live, MOVING is just very stressful. I just keep taking it a day at a time and reminding myself the end result will be worth it. Good luck! (former N.Y.er) ![]()

Having the jitters before a move is normal for sure. Relocating can be a moving experience, no pun intended. Coming here to TV was huge for my wife who spent her whole life in Massachusetts. Since we've been here we are constantly meeting new people and friends and getting involved in things. When you get here you'll see. I'm sure you'll be fine.

I think anyone making a move to anywhere, that doesn't get jittery or question their decision..... is an idiot.
![]() Our one year anniversary is Sunday and as I look back on it....it's a miracle I didn't have a meltdown. I had to close on our old place and this one on my own, because my wife was having major medical issues. We sold our other, much larger house.......for a $60K loss. The garage floor painter here didn't get it done when he said...and we weren't sure if all the moving boxes would ruin the job. Come to find out, the golf cart that came with the house and was supposed to be in "good shape"....had batteries that were shot ($880). I could go on about all the other things that happened, but suffice to say....there were many. Fast forward one year... I drove to Glenview this morning to play golf with 11 other great guys, while drinking my coffee and looking at the beautiful landscaping. I passed a plethora of other folks, all driving their carts somewhere. When I got home, my wife and I took the cart up to Sweet Bay and picked up a sandwich for lunch and some steaks for the grill. I'm making this post on the lanai, with my nexxus tablet, while watching it get dark....and it's still warm outside. All of this simply makes me think....."it took you long enough to get to your dream location...dummy!". ![]() Sure, it's not "perfect" and there are some things that, if I could.....I would change. But in the overall big picture....... it's awesome!!!! ![]() So what I'm trying to say is, that trepidation is natural but....I don't think you will regret it one second. Good luck. ![]() .

OP thank you posting the question and OnTrack thanks for the response. Now I know I am not crazy.
Just sold our Atlanta home and moving to a rental for a couple of years before moving to our forever home in Village of Duval. Having garage sale tomorrow and sometimes get the shakes getting rid of stuff. I learned from this forum to get ridge of stuff and buy new stuff when we make our final move. Will be going to TV for a week next week and counting the days! |

Is very stressful making a major move. We moved from upstate NY and the tears were falling on the plane ride here as we were leaving family, but after Landing in Orlando and coming to our new house we knew we had made the right choice. It was our dream to live in Florida and build a home and we accomplished that. We have met many nice people and now call our close friends our "family." Do we miss our family in NY?.....you bet we do but now they have a nice place to vacation!! This is the best thing we have ever done. Take a deep breath and enjoy the ride! Welcome......

Western Massachusetts is very beautiful country. We were very fortunate to make a few trips out to Canyon Ranch in Lenox and the surrounding towns and woods were beautiful. We were living in a little town called Shirley Mass.

I know Shirley. I seem to remember an awesome bakery that had wonderful cranberry scones.

had my closing yesterday and I had the same nerves all the way on the drive up....asking myself what I was doing, especially since I haven't retired or sold my house yet. Then I did my walk thru and the villa was in great shape and I wished I could stay. Then met the previous owners at closing and they were wonderful. Funny, we laughed all thru the closing. Seems when I'm up there, I know it's the right thing I'm doing.
My problem is I have to come two hours back and wait and then the nerves come back. I'm pretty sure I'll be good once I'm on the other side, it's the split life that's getting to me now. |

just as soon as this house sells....or I may try to work there....if I could get enough hours I could retire, live and work there until this house sells....
everything still up in the air. Possibly July... yes, buying first went against every fiber of my body and upbringing but I just felt good about this particular villa and if felt right. I'm fortunate that I won't be carrying two mortgages..it also forced me to get into gear about putting my house here up for sale. As you pointed out, it's nerve inducing to move and I was worried the longer I procrastinated I might talk myself out of it. Status quo is not without some comfort. |
