I purchased a camera one time on ebay and it was faulty. I had a hard time getting my money back. I'm now very leery of using ebay. I'm now a prime amazon member and I couldn't be happier

I've used and sold on Ebay for over 15 years. I actually purchase my Avon a $38 jar for half the price. I buy things on Ebay that I know I won't be returning. I don't buy cloths on Ebay or any sites because I'm very hard to guessing what will fit correctly. I even purchased an authentic Coach bag for half the price because it had a defect, which after inspection, I actually had to ask the seller where is the defect because I couldn't find it. Even Coach website confirmed it was authentic. I prefer to use PayPal because they protect the buyers credit card information and stand behind the buyers as they also stand by the seller. I personally would not use a seller who doesn't take Paypal. I also use Amazon for things I can't find on Ebay. My advice for either site, always confirm with the sellers the expiration dates on items that would have expiration dates. Only buy in the USA unless there is something you truly want and don't care about out of the Country shipping charges. And last, get and use a credit card that only gives you $500 to spend when purchasing on line.

I currently have Prime "on pause" due to Amazon's taking tools away from law enforcement that it needs. I have used ebay, even before this pause, with good results. I will probably go back to Amazon one day, but I'm happy to carry out my small protest, and even saving a bit of money - around $11 for each month I don't use Prime, plus all the things I decide I can do without or get locally for just as good a price or better.

Before I became a prime member, I used eBay exclusively without any problems. However, you have to realize that eBay doesn't maintain stock of it's items, that is owned by the individual sellers and shipping is controlled by them. Amazon controls much more of the inventory on their site and shipping is free and fantastic if you are a prime member. Having said that, I've rarely had problems with shipping of items purchased on eBay. Most vendors on eBay these days offer free shipping but it won't be as fast as Amazon. I've purchased major items such as big screen tvs and guitars from eBay without problems but use Amazon more due to fast shipping and I use their sponsored credit card which gives me cash rebates for credit towards future purchases. I have total confidence in both eBay and Amazon from my purchasing experience over many years. |

E Bay is risky ! You never know the integrity of the seller. And shipping costs of E-Bay sometimes are high and unreliable. Stick with Amazon

I use paypal exclusively for online purchases on eBay because it provides a buffer between my credit card number and vendor data bases that may be subject to hacking. It costs me nothing more and works fast and great. I also use it to transfer small cash amounts which does cost but is similar to costs at Western Union.

I try to avoid buying items made in China and dealing with companies that are left leaning in their politics. The founder of Amazon is a huge supporter of BLM even to the tune of donating millions of dollars to their radical cause of “fundamentally transforming America”.

So, I sold thousands of items on Ebay. We had an antique tool business. Rules:
Check the nimbers behind the sellers name and the percentages. This number tells you how many transactions this srller has had and the percentage tells you jow happy cusyomers were. Pick only sellers eith 97%-100% only. Make sure you ask questions of the seller, if they aren't answered in the display. Make sure you can return, if that is important yo you. Check out the shipping costs. They can outweigh the value of the item. Make sure you set up a Paypal account, as most sellers require payment with this method. I have also bought many personal items and for the most part was happy. Just be smart. If it looks yoo good t9 be true, it probably is. Trust the sellers with high trsnsaction numbers. If domeone has under 100 transactions, find someine else. |

I've purchased hundreds a products off eBay and id not risky. It sounds like you either had a rare bad experience or haven't really used eBay. Ebay will help you to resolve any problems in a timely manner and you can rely on them without worry. Please don't trash a service of which you obviously have little experience.

I've been buying and selling on Ebay for over 20 years. I've sold about 30k worth of stuff in all that time.
I never sell anything on Ebay unless it really doesn't have much value to me to begin with. I have a lot of engineering parts from old projects, like Servos, gear motors, etc, plus some computer stuff like older video cards, etc. About 1 in 20 sales, the buyer name is gibberish, like GG22h11 and the account signed up the same day. I ship the same day, so this tells me it's a stolen Paypal account and experience tells me to cancel the order. That said, I will check on Ebay for buying if the item is new and I'm willing to wait longer than prime. There are a bunch of good vendors with 10s of thousands or more of positive feedback. Place the order and it usually shows up and you save a few bucks. To compare Ebay to Amazon prime is akin to comparing the Markets of Marion to Walmart and Target. Sure, you might find the same stuff, but Ebay is all different vendors where Amazon Prime, is for the most part stocked by Amazon. Some Amazon marketplace vendors do match prime shipping, but I've found that to be hit or miss. Unless it's actually prime or fulfilled by Amazon, I will look elsewhere. |
