You are absolutely right, but I find it interesting that the FOX news channel AKA by many as "the devil network" finds a way to report on the good, the bad and the ugly. Unfortunately the uninformed can't see the forest for the trees and depend on the main stream media to keep them informed of what is happening in this world. They will report on Ferguson like it is the only issue we are currently dealing with in the world today - not sure if it is an attempt to stir the racial tension in this country or what the hell they are thinking.

On another note about this recent beheading I am so impressed by the parents that requested their son not be shown in that jump suit on his knees, but rather as the alive, caring man he was. I also am impressed by their public statement made today and pray the reason there was no video of him repeating what he was told prior to his execution was because his Ranger training kicked in and his last words to those bastards was F- -K you.

Nothing more than the media managing what the public should be focused on, hence away from. While the world is burning around us the focus is on "local" news. The politicians are fully aware of the very, very, VERY short attention span of, unfortunately, too many Americans.
For example....midterm election message? Mandate? What about the deterioating infrastructure of the USA? What about the millions who have given up looking for a job?

The whole issue of immigration executive orders is nothing more than a beligerent grand stand play which also keeps everyboy's eye on the ball the powers that be want front and center.

And far too many of we the people just follow the pied pipers tune to oblivion!

It keeps a huge voting bloc focused on their perceived national victimhood status, for which victims "deserve" more money as reparations.

While there's no doubt that Ferguson is a racial tension explosion waiting to happen, the police treatment of minorities across the nation are not all the same as Ferguson.
"BOSTON -- From Boston to Los Angeles, police departments are bracing for large demonstrations when a grand jury decides whether to indict a white police officer who killed an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri…."
Why do cities like Boston, L.A., Las Vegas and others mentioned in this article assume the "police-abuse of blacks" identity of one ALLEGEDLY "racist" officer in Ferguson, MO as characteristic of all metro police departments nationwide??

Discussion has veered off topic. Please note the topic is actions taken by ISIS.

If you really want to get the media's full attention you need to capture an ISIS member and waterboard him. Granted, it would mainly be about the U.S. committing "war crimes"...

ISIS = NO FEAR!

Until such time as ISIS has reason to fear the USA or the locals or other countries nearby....they will continue to wreak terror and havoc.

They know other countries dwell and obsess on the safety of innocents and collatoral damage. As a result that is where they mingle and hide.

Being polite one can only characterize them as murdering cowards. How great they are moving in and taking over from civilian, unarmed populations.

It will be more troops to fight them on the ground or get out.

For some reason (obviously political!) we are more concerned about leaving than about winning or the consequences of leaving before an appropriate time.

Look at South Korea. How many years have we been involved there with how many troops STILL THERE? Note how many years it has taken with our help for the South Koreans to eveolve to a country with impressive military capabilities. AND OUR FORCES ARE STILL THERE!!!!!.

I can't believe what is happening to this world.

By the way, your original title of the thread was THIS STORY. I am so sorry I thought you misspelled atrocity and I reported it. I know you are a good speller. I guess the moddie may have thought your title was not specific enough and the moddie changed it and misspelled atrocity.

I just want to clear that issue up because spelling is important to many and I know that changing the title has upset you greatly. I hope this post helps.

bump.

I was trying to clear up an issue for Rags.

I am aware what has happened to this world. I am worried about what is happening to this world now. I am extremely worried about radical Islamic forces everywhere. Just read that they just killed people in a Jewish house of worship.

Does your "short memory" remark mean to minimalize the radical Islamic threat to the world?

Can't believe what is happening to this world? Apparently not a history major. Just a few wars worth mentioning.

10 Deadliest Wars In Human History

Throw in the top ten natural disasters. (Doesn't include the "great flood", if you believe in that one)

10 Worst Natural Disasters of All Time | Disasterium

Only listed the top ten in each category. Plenty more to chose from if you care to look them up.

So, overall, things aren't quite as bad as those with short memories would have us believe.

Does your "short memory" remark mean to minimalize the radical Islamic threat to the world? And particulary to us a mostly Judeo-Christian nation?

I am not sure if I understand your post at all !!!!

The original idea of this thread was to discuss the beheading and the lack of media coverage, while most were in Ferguson PREPARING for something to happen. The question then became has the media become so insensitive to this kind of stuff it is not even headline worthy.

Somehow the title of THIS STORY got changed and then posters were told they were off topic which they were not. Thus not sure what your history links means to anything.

I am a history buff, BUT I live NOW....the present. Discussing history is great...I just finished two great books....both historical and I suggest that what I meant in this thread was a bit different.

Throughout history, our press was past tense...something happened and that news was reported to us mostly with facts and very seldom with opinion.

Today in our instant world, it seems to me that the media tries to CREATE news and the beheading....BEHEADING.....not even making headlines and the main story of the day I began this thread was Ferguson says a lot about the media and a lot about the priorities we have in this country.

We enjoy great soap operas, not history or potential history making stories it appears.

I might add that it continues as we "speak"......Ferguson still out guns as far as media space and spacing even the killing of the 4 folks in Jerusalem who were slain while praying. So to bimmert I say...yeah, the world is a sucky place right now, historical references aside.
