I was just a lurker also (since October 2007) but just started posting a few days ago when we signed a contract to buy a new villa. Let me just tell you that it is really a lot more fun to join in on the posts than to just be a lurker.

To address the issue of buying before age 55- I bought a house in June and I am only 51. I was told that it is not a problem because they can have up to 20% of the population under 55 and still be considered a 55+ community. They are no where near the 20% figure so it was a non-issue- I had the money, they sold me the house!

Thanks for the feedback, my concern is for my wife. She is 47 and just thinks she will be treated badly.....

My problem is that I'm only 46 and a looong way from 55 or even retirement. It's like being too short to ride the good rides... I'm just not old enough yet to get in
