CIB

I don't consider my posts as hijacks. I was responding to graciegirl's post and your response back to her. You mentioned a feature some of us were not aware of.

And I believe other's posts are not related to the subject either. ??? :dontknow:

Hey

This lurker is friendly. wav

I'm actually a little concerned with consuming too much virtual kool-aid ;D. Too much of what I read falls into the "too good to be true" category. I've actually "bought" into the whole lifestyle concept that is being advertised in TV and fell in love with Pickleball (although I had never heard of it a month ago). Now, I have already bought my own pickleball set (4 paddles, net and balls) even though I don't know anybody that plays. Currently, I'm playing in my driveway with any family members that I can drag over.

My problem is that I'm only 46 and a looong way from 55 or even retirement. It's like being too short to ride the good rides... I'm just not old enough yet to get in

KCinBAMA ........ welcome as a first-time poster !

My single daughter is your age and she was saying the same thing you mentioned, about the age thing, in case I bought in TV and she moved in with me. But I've learned from reading these topics that there are a lot of spouses in your age bracket who are married to older 55ers to befriend and it's my understanding that there is a quota of some sort which allows people under 55 to buy into TV. Maybe someone who really knows can clarify this issue.

KC,

My husband and I are planning to buy this fall, and neither one of us is 55. My husband is 52 and I am 48. Our realtor from TV and our outside realtor both said that they can get a waiver. The age restriction of 55 is just to be able to keep the average age over the (I believe they said it was 62) state age limit for senior housing. Since there are more residents there now that are older, they can be offset with some younger retirees. Neither of our realtors saw any problem. We plan to start living the good life instead of waiting. We will continue to work part time to supplement our income, but why wait? Good luck with your decision.

Cold Busted---actually, I am only a semi-lurker. I do put my two cents in every now and then.

Does anyone know when the August TOTV luncheon at Crispers is---I thought I read somewere that it is on August 15th. I plan to be there to meet some more folks.

Hey Coney
I have been on for a while. Don't post often....just kind of come on to dream of being in TV! Our home in NJ is.... and has been.... on the market off and on for over a year. The real estate market is just awful here. We were hoping to be there by the Fall but really have serious doubts. We actually have a hold on a rental for the month of March. Cannot wait to spend some time there. We love TV!

Pookigirl, I'm wannabe villager too. I watch all the lucky people in tv and pretend I'm there. Recently I found the web cam and the posts with videos of people and try to put names with faces. Our market in Co is awful too. I've been listed for over two years. I'm already packed! Maybe Jupiter rising this week will change my luck.
I've named several of my birds pooki, it rolls off the tongue easily. Benj

I've just found this site and am finding it very helpful. I reviewed TV for my relatives, but find the concept facinating. I am 52 and my wife is 47. She does not think she would fit in TV. I am finding some good feedback in other forums, but any advise would be helpful

Molddude....OMG...I NEVER in a million years ever thought or even remotely considered that I would ever want to live in a "retirement community". Ever since our first visit there...about 10 years ago...we have been talking of retiring in TV! My husband took early retirement due to some health issues, but I am still working. Our home is on the market and we've had no luck yet but are praying to St. Joe every day that he will guide us to wherever it is and whatever is the best thing for us. Once again we've been faced with some health problems and are praying things will be resolved so we can make our long time plans to live our life out there in the beautiful Villages. It is such a wonderful happy active community. If you want to do nothing...do nothing. If you are active, my goodness.. there are hundreds of things to do!
Our daughter and son in law are not happy that we want to move, but I keep re-assuring them that they will fall in love with it too....hope that maybe they will consider moving too..there is a family section there also!!! That would complete our dreams!
If you and your wife have doubts because of the age thing... have no fear.. there are lots of us Boomers coming there. We will have a ball there together!

I found this site several months ago but only joined as a member last month. I haven't posted much but I have spent a great deal of time reading the posts on the site.

Why doesn't your wife think that she would like TV? What are you looking for advice on?

My wife was initially against retirement communities and didn't want to live in one. When we were in Florida in January, I took her to visit TV. It wasn't like she imagined it to be. We both liked TV and are planning to visit the last week of July on a lifestyle preview visit for 6 days.

Ok, I'm guilty but not for long! I have posted on the Singles blog but will introduce myself to you. I'm "nannie" and hopefully will be settled in TV by Oct. I'm from North Shore of Boston, Danvers, MA and hope my P & S on this home is signed this week. If so, I'll be flying down to TV next week for a P & S there. I'll be staying someplace for three nights I expect. Any suggestions? I was thinking the 3-4 night preview for $75/night that TV offers. Need to line up insurance and golf cart purchase, Rv storage also, a truck camper that I will drive down in Oct..

I'll be looking for to meeting all of you and enjoying my sport's activities.

ConeyIsBabe, sschuler1, and IndyGuy,

Thanks for your comments. I'll need to start thinking about how to get there before I turn 55.
