Default Batten down the hatches!

Looks like a new Tornado Watch for this morning until noon for Lake, Sumter and Marion. I'm sure the new weather radios were buzzing!

Mine woke me up at 6:46 this morning. Haven't heard it since!!!!

I know we need these radio's but .......I hate being woken up so suddenly. Starts me out on edge and I don't care for that.

Hey Russ, I live on the east side of Tallahassee and the storms did come through early this morning. Trees were snapped in half and power lines are down and electricity off for a short while in some parts of town.

The good news - the weather radio started going off at 6:00 a.m. and every few minutes thereafter. First it warned of heavy thunderstoms, then a tornado watch, then a tornado warning. It works! I had the warning before things got crazy. All is well now.

Heed those warnings, though! Hope TV stays storm free.

In Destin, FL, ours went of twice around 2 am with a "Mariner's warning". We have the nasty habit of slapping it off after the second warning because we're so tired we don't care what happens. :dontknow:

Just go back from golf at Turtle Mound, 70 degrees and a little windy. Looked at doppler radar before I left, it was all northwest of us and heading north.

Overcast and breezy in southern TV. :yikes: This is one reason why I don't have a weather radio. Yeah, it's going to rain today, :yikes: but when the only purpose of something is to act as a prophet of doom and it keeps giving false alarms, why bother. :dontknow:

I guess it depends on your definition of false alarm. The fact that a tornado watch was issued, by definition means just that - watch. I would just keep an eye on it as golfnut did by verifying the radar before heading out to play a round. Smart, IMHO.
