Car Colors
I was wondering what color cars are popular due to the heat in FL. I am contemplating purchasing either a black or white car or dark blue and was wondering if white was more popular in FL due to the heat.
I recently saw a black car with FL plates and tinted windows which looked awesome. It was parked in Hartford, CT. I am thinking about getting a Hyundai Genesis V8. Does anyone have this vehicle and what has their experience been? I will probably be coming down to the Villages in 2011. |

Go with the white. I have had black, red and silver cars here and our next will be white or a lighter color.
Black might look nice but it will generate a lot of heat. |

I wondered why the dealer had so many dark color cars with black interiors when we went car shopping recently. We went with a Pearl White this time and are happy with it. Like most Florida cars it still gets hot in the sun when the temps get high but it cools down pretty fast.

We have a Pearl White Solara V6 - very nice looking and practical. My brother has a Candy Apple Red Mustang Convertible (that I drive all the time).

We just got a new Honda Insight Hybrid--white. Love it, but hard to find in parking lot with all the white Florida cars.

Had a white car and it seemed every car I saw was white. I now have a silver car and it now seems silver is the popular color.
In selecting a car color I would be more concerned with how quickly it looks dirty. My silver car is not too bad nor was my white one. Friend bought a beautiful deep maroon sedan and complains about keeping it clean. Heat in Florida is a factor but modern air conditioning can handle it. If I had my heart set on a black car I wouldn't let the heat factor deter me. |

I bought my first black car less than a year before moving to FL. I was a little concerned about black in the FL heat. It has not been an issue for me. But, the car stays in the garage for days on end as we use golf carts as our primary means for getting around. Since the car is seldom used (maybe 2500 miles a year) it doesn't get that dirty.
If you like black, get black.

See all colors of cars here. Personally, we have a dark blue car and a dark green car. Both have light colored interiors. Friends have black cars, red cars, white cars, cream colored cars, dark gray cars, green cars.....
Mom in law has a black car with black leather interior. That car gets hot when out in the sun, but it might just be that the leather gets hotter than cloth seats will in the heat. Get what you really like. Once you're here, you might not be driving your car as much for short trips in town or to the pools or rec centers. Auto air conditioning systems quickly cool off a very warm car.
