Angry OMG!!! Another Mass Shooting. This one in in Dayton, Ohio.

Incredibly, this is yet another tragedy.
Nine dead at this writing. and 16 hospitalized.
This is the fourth shooting within a week's time and the second mass shooting within a 24-hour period.
The shooter has been shot dead by the police.
The incident took place in downtown Dayton at about 1:22 a.m.

The police are trying to determine if any others were involved in the actual shooting.
Not very much is known at this writing.

There is nothing the politicians can or will do to stop this, it is up to we the people to stop it that can't happen until we can stop arguing with each other and find some common ground.

I just can't understand how people can do this. It makes me ill to think about it.

Dayton shooting: Nine killed, 26 wounded, shooter also dead | USA News | Al Jazeera

These are becoming terrifyingly "normal".

We have dog sitters at our house while we are away for summer. Their daughter was in Dayton at the bar celebrating her friend's birthday when the shots started. She crawled out and got out safely, pretty close to home. Very emotional to hear the story from them.

This shooting in Dayton, Ohio occurred in the Oregon Historic District, near Kettering. It happened at a bar called NED PEPPERS. The long time owner died in April.
The gunman, a white male, arrived outfitted in a flak jacket. Here are some pictures of inside this bar, before the violence.

It has very little to do with video games, movies, TV shows or there would be hundreds of thousands of these kind of shootings involving any kind of available weapon.

The Bible has all kinds of violence in it. As do the works of Shakespeare, operas, Homer's The Iliad, etc.

It's not just "these kinds of shootings", it's violence in general that is the problem. Look around, read the news, the world is getting crazier by the day.

I don't know if the "thousands" would happen, but I agree in that I don't think this exposure to violence causes violent behavior. It may desensitize some people to violence.

However, I think it is fairly easy to prove that violence sells - makes money, and that is the reason there is so much violence in "entertainment".

A trend I find distressing is the books, movies, etc that make a person a hero who breaks the laws to achieve a "good" result. In other words the end justifies the means.

One of the two recent shooters said he was "defending" our country from the invasion of illegal immigrants. He was justified in killing all those people - in his own mind.

Violence does seem to be an indication of a real lack of imagination with some writers, movie directors, etc.
