I'm waiting for POGs to come back in fashion - still have my son's collection of about a thousand of the things.

And, my wife has the attic full of unopened boxes of Hallmark Christmas ornaments she bought in the 80's that were supposed to help finance our retirement but never will get back half of what she spent on them.

We won't discuss my baseball card collection.

We used wax to fill our boyfriends ring so that it set up high on our hand. You melted a candle and molded the wax to go into the top of the ring and then put the ring on your finger to mold the wax to fit. Knee high socks with short skirts and big sweaters were also popular at our school.

We Kansas girls used plain old scotch tape to wrap around our boyfriend's ring...

Not all fads but fond memories:
Skirts with knee socks
Bass penny loafers (with a shiny penny, of course)
Flipped up hair with lots and lots of hairspray
Brush type rollers that hurt like :edit: to sleep on
Pink sponge rollers
Home perms... :yikes:
Portable hair dryers with the hose connected to the cap

Brightspot, I still have my portable hair dryer with the cap attached. Really! Probably from the 60's and the cap has a psychodelic (sp?) flower design on it.

Those rollers were a killer. I still have ones that are the diameter of soda cans, I can't believe we tortured ourselves that way. I'll probably come across them when I'm packing to move to TV and can show them at a monthly meeting.

Did anyone wear stiletto heel shoes with the pointiest toes you could find? No wonder we have feet problems.

Good ideas, come up with more memories.

Just remembered a "girl" fad at our high school...silver charm bracelets...still have mine, too! We would buy charms to represent anything in our lives (and I mean anything!) just so we could be the one with the most charms. The weight of those bracelets make me tired just thinking about them.

Big hair rollers - absolutely.

And we would find an errand or something to have an excuse to wear the rollers downtown in our small town on Saturday afternoon so that everyone would know we had a date on Saturday night. (like the pharmacist and the butcher really cared)

Boomer, I laughed so hard, I was crying.

So true, if you wore the rollers around on Saturday afternoon running errands, everyone knew you were going out on Sat night. It was a status thing especially if you ran into some friends who didn't have rollers in their hair. So funny.
