Default Fire Chief Charged w/Felony Against Cyclist

Please watch this video of an off duty FL fire chief committing a felony against a cyclist...

Fla. fire chief seen in road rage video resigns

Regarding cyclists on Florida roadways:

In Florida, a bicycle is legally defined as a vehicle and has all of the privileges, rights and responsibilities on public roads, except for expressways, that a motor vehicle operator does, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety.

Many Villagers are from many other States that don't recognize cyclists having the entire lane of road and rights to that road as we do in Florida.

Unfortunately, at least here in TV, the cyclists focus on THEIR privileges and rights, but NOT their responsibilities. This would include stopping at stop signs, yielding at yield signs, and not treating a pack of 20 as if they were one entity among other things. When challenged on this site, they often reply that carts and cars do the same thing. A case of 2 wrongs making a right???? The other excuse is that it is inconvenient because they would have to take their foot out of their toe clips to come to a stop. AWW, too bad baby. I have to stop at a stop sign, even when it is "inconvenient", and it is among the responsibilities of a cyclist as well.

There is no excuse for this fire chief (ex-fire chief), but let's not discuss cyclist's "rights" without discussing their responsibilities.

And you stop at all stop signs - like all cars making a right?
This includes golf carts.

Yeah, I'm ready for everyone to stop at stop signs.

Here we go again. A lot of people in TV hate bike riders. They are already taking the conversation to stop signs. Topgun, these folks are not going to change.

This sounds like projection to me.

Projection | Psychology Today

I always stop at stop signs, I don't roll through or totally ignore them.

Thank you for making my point about cyclist’s excuses for ignoring the law

Are you saying that you make a complete stop at every stop sign in both your car and your golf cart? Then, congratulations! You are the only person that I know who actually does.

There are many who stop at those red signs. Have to admit Tuesday, at LSL I stopped and 5 bikes blew past me, like sign wasn’t there.
Someone deserve thanks to these who chose to pass my car, narrowly getting missed by the car who was already legally moving forward, into intersection, From left. They jammed on their brakes to miss “the I don’t and dare you to hit me.”. One day someone isn’t going to stop in time, and guess who’s calling Morgan & Morgan. Hopefully the witnesses will be abundant.

Have to say scared the crap out of the other driver, me not so much, not the first time but one day may be the last for the 5, who chose poorly

And now we have a second person proving my point. Maybe I should review since perhaps my post was too complicated. Part of it was that instead of following the law and stopping when required to do so they make the lame excuse that some carts and cars don’t stop either. I thought when I followed it with “so two wrongs make a right” it would be clear, but I guess I was wrong
And one other point: cars and carts may roll through a stop a little, but cyclists blow through them at full speed like they aren’t even there

Now you know one more. As Mom used to say, "Just because your friends jump off a bridge doesn't mean you should do it to." There is what some people do. Then there is what is right and legal.

Exactly this!

I think we should be addressing everyone not stopping at stop signs.

I ride my bike in the golf cart / bike lane. I wish I had $10 for every time a cart or car stopped well into the car/bike lane, I'd take a European vacation.

Yeah, I know you were planning on running thru the stop sign. Will you run thru stop signs after you kill someone ?

And yet more deflection away from the topic of cyclist's responsibilities to obey traffic laws. Note how there is never an admission that some cyclists just blow through stop and yield signs----just pointing their fingers at carts and cars that might not come to a complete stop. Just continued whining about having to take feet out of toe clips. Never "I run stop signs all the time because stopping is inconvenient".
