[QUOTE=OrangeBlossomBaby;2263129]Lilith was Adam's first wife, and his wife after he ditched Eve when they were kicked out of Eden.

Where in the Torah do you find this?

From Lilith - Biblical Archaeology Society :

I kinda think Exodus 21:7 is fun. From the King James bible:

In fact, Exodus and Leviticus are chock full of twisted depraved, cruel, viscious, and sexually perverted things. Gotta love the Bible. The last porn-torture-horror book allowed in public schools.
I don't know what Bible you read but Lilith is never mentioned in Genesis. The OP's subject was "Favorite Bible verses" in case folks are having trouble following along.

C'mon. You know as well as I do that people ALWAYS have trouble following along (except of course those that don't even bother to read the thread and just slap something in a post, they weren't "following" in the first place)

… my original post was 1st a ‘witness’ of faith … but choosing this forum it is/was also a ‘test’ to see how many … ‘which of you’ would treat it with disrespect. … I am not surprised …

This is one of my favorite verses:

Ezekiel 23:20
New International Version

"There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses."

Lilith is not a woman in the Torah or the Tanakh. She chiefly appears in books of Hebrew mysticism from the Middle Ages, and is fictional. Check out this source for more details:

Thank you so much for this post. This was much needed to avoid/bypass the normal noise put out here in the forum.

Question: Who decides which threads are "noise"?

Lilith is, however, mentioned in Isaiah 34:14: " Wildcats shall meet with hyenas, goat-demons shall call to each other; there too Lilith shall repose, and find a place to rest." Like many other parts of the Bible what you see depends on the translation you use: other translations refer to (the) Lilith as a "screech owl", "night demon", "night bird", etc. VOICE has one particularly graphic translation: "Among the howling and hissing wild creatures and demons, Lilith herself, demoness of the night, will call Edom her haunt, A place to recoup and rest between her devastating forays." Bible Gateway gives something like 40 translations of this verse, all similar to one another in content but with sometimes dramatically different in word usage.

The story, perhaps legend, of Lilith herself is as old as, and possibly even older than, many of the other writings that compose not only the Hebrew and Christian Bible but those of other ancient religions as well. For example: "In the Ancient Mesopotamian religion, found in cuneiform texts of Sumer, Assyria, and Babylonia, Lilith signifies a spirit or demon." (Wikipedia). Though direction may have subsequently diverged, it is an inescapable fact that many of the beginnings of the religions springing from that part of the world have a lot of common origins.

Along those lines, can anyone explain Genesis 6:4---"There were giants on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God lived with the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown."

The sons of God????? Giants???? Even more interesting some translations that state "the sons of the GODS". Gods???? How many????? Even as an allegory, this verse does not seem to make much sense.

So I guess Eve was Adam's second wife. I always wondered what happened to his first wife.
“ So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.” NIV

Where in the world did you get the idea that Eve was Adam’s second wife? The rib came from Adam and Eve was created.

In Genesis 1:27, it said that God created a man and a woman. I assume they got married.

In Genesis 2:20 thru 2:23, it says that Adam needed a helper, so God took out his rib and created Eve. Adam liked her, so she became his second wife.
