Like many other parts of the Bible what you see depends on the translation you use: other translations refer to (the) Lilith as a "screech owl", "night demon", "night bird", etc. VOICE has one particularly graphic translation: "Among the howling and hissing wild creatures and demons, Lilith herself, demoness of the night, will call Edom her haunt, A place to recoup and rest between her devastating forays." Bible Gateway gives something like 40 translations of this verse, all similar to one another in content but with sometimes dramatically different in word usage.

The story, perhaps legend, of Lilith herself is as old as, and possibly even older than, many of the other writings that compose not only the Hebrew and Christian Bible but those of other ancient religions as well. For example: "In the Ancient Mesopotamian religion, found in cuneiform texts of Sumer, Assyria, and Babylonia, Lilith signifies a spirit or demon." (Wikipedia). Though direction may have subsequently diverged, it is an inescapable fact that many of the beginnings of the religions springing from that part of the world have a lot of common origins.
Thank you for this very informative post.

Mathew 25:40

"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

Well about those roundabouts! And Publix when they had toilet paper during the COVID scare and the doors had yet to open.
I'm sorry, but I'm positive that Clemson University wasn't around back then...

From Lilith - Biblical Archaeology Society :

I kinda think Exodus 21:7 is fun. From the King James bible:

In fact, Exodus and Leviticus are chock full of twisted depraved, cruel, viscious, and sexually perverted things. Gotta love the Bible. The last porn-torture-horror book allowed in public schools.
Not for lack of trying...

Not in any version of the Holy Bible I have read.

I started with verses and well I like these books:
Ephesians, Proverbs and Job "Submit to God, and you will have peace; then things will go well for you. Listen to his instructions, and store them in your heart.

King James version, Genesis, chapter ONE:
Quote:
27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that [h]moves on the earth.”
So that happened - man and woman. One of each. Along with all the other animals on the planet - birds and beasts and fish and bugs and cockroaches. They were all there by the end of the 6th day, and then God took some PTO on the 7th day.

THEN - fast forward to chapter TWO: God makes a new subdivision in the community, a garden he calls Eden. He sets Adam up in the garden. God then conjures up one of every living thing he already made, so that Adam could give them names. I don't know why God didn't give them names already but it's not my story. Maybe God was tired of doing all the work. But Adam couldn't find a single critter he was willing to get jiggy with. So God anesthetizes Adam and does a little skeletal surgery magick and voila: a woman made out of Adam's rib. Adam thought that was a cool trick and the chick was a keeper so he named her "woman" and that was that.
Quote:
21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He [h]made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
BUT WAIT - how can that be? What happened to the woman god made on the 6th day in Chapter 1?

So one of those two women was Lilith. Why that name? Why not. The original Old Testament was written in Aramaic, and Adam's name wasn't Adam, and Eve's name wasn't Eve. Those are English names. Not even the same alphabet. You can call Lilith Gertrude if you want, but it doesn't change the fact that according to the old testament, there were TWO women for Adam. One made on the 6th day before God rested, and another one made after he gave Adam a new home and presented all the critters for him to name.

Like I said, NOT in any Holy Bible I have read. You said a lot but didn't prove your point. May want to go back and take that Bibliology or Theology class over again. I believe you were going to prove that "Lilith" was in the Book of Genesis and was Adam's second wife.
