Seriously? Do you view this as a personal safety issue (from bystanders/crowds) or a law enforcement issue?
What if the victim was just injured and could make a full recovery with prompt medical care but would die without it?
If it was an accident, and you were not impaired, you are not looking at any criminal charges and probably just the inconvienence of some paperwork. If you leave, you'll probably be facing several felony charges up to and including vehicular manslaughter or depraved indifference murder 2

Are you serious??? I don't usually give too much thought to posts here and come back and add to a comment or question that I had but this is the one exception... I am thinking this was your way of pointing out the sad fact that hit and run accidents occur on a regular basis, unfortunately. And you are as disturbed by this incident, and hit and runs with injury and/or death as most of us are. I follow news in central Ohio and northeast South Carolina, and trust me they have their share of hit and runs.

I don't care if it was a villager. I don't care what street. I don't care if proper grammar was used. I don't care if the headline was a tease so you have to come back for more. I care that a human being was murdered. Instead of being murdered with a gun or knife, this person was murdered with a car, but still murdered.

An updated article in the on-line news removes any reference to the victim being a Villages resident. The original article said that the neighbor who heard the noise recognized him as her neighbor. The victim had previously lived in Lady Lake.

I hope you never have an "accident" which you never intended to have, result in accidental death of a person.

Leaving the victim is a whole other matter, which certainly is not "murder" either, though it is a crime.

When this person drove off he/she made it murder. This is IMHO. Obviously there are car accidents that result in a death? What word can/do they use? I've heard Vehicular homocide. What word would you use if this was your brother, father, Son or best friend?

I would say they were "killed" by a car, and leave the legal determinations up to the police and prosecutors, who charge the driver with criminal and/or misdemeanor charges.

That's their job, and they'll certainly do more of an investigation about intent (or not) than what this forum and conjecture can provide.

Rather than get into word smithing and legal determinations, fine. Tbe person was killed by a Person driving a car and left on the side of the road like a bag of trash. The car didn't kill the person any more than a gun kills a person.
