Sounds like there was an email going around that was a mix of accurate, inaccurate, and outdated information.

I saw this mentioned on the news---you are right about the inaccuracy of the e-mail. I've learned to check with Snopes before I forward e-mails that dis products, or in this case, spread around fear regarding buying gift certificates; however, it's good to be cautious during these hard times about plunking money down on any gift certificate. It's a shame that some people believe a lot of these phony e-mails that are circulating on the web.

Excellent point Joanne! I've received at least five e-mails with "important" information in the past month that turned out to be false when checked with Snopes.com. Mostly of the false e-mails were regarding security and medical issues.

I don't know why people like to author and circulate false and misleading information but they do. It does pay to check out information with Snopes before forwarding it.

Good point, Bare. I had alot of e-mails, as I'm sure many did, during the election that were not completely true when checked out.
