Thanks for all the response to my "gripe" with Comcast. Thanks to all the help, I think I have my answer now.

We were a DirecTV customer for over 15 years and just switched to Comcast. So far, so good. I have no complaints with Comcast. We were Comcast Internet customers for several years before we switched to Comcast for our television service. No complaints with the Internet service either. What are your complaints with Comcast, if you don't mind me asking?

We ditched Comcast for our TV about 4 years ago. We were tired of equipment break downs and poor customer service. We picked up Direct TV. We have been very happy with them. I will tell you though when it storms you may lose your TV reception for the duration of the storm (while it rains hard). Then it will come back on once it is over. We have a high definition DVR and have many recorded programs and we just watch those while the storm is going on. This may be frustrating for someone who loves to watch football and a storm pops up. For us it has not been an issue. We do have Comcast for our internet service. Very few interruptions and we have over 50 mbps.

For a quick answer, go to the top of this page and hit the search button. Type Comcast service, there is someone on here at least once every week or two complaining about their customer service, I believe they're rated 'the worse'. You might also search Directv and Centurylink and if you're in the new area, search Brighthouse. Myself, I dropped Comcast in 2008 and have had Directv ever since. Wouldn't want anything else. It's not cheap, but the best never is.

Maybe it's me who writes a lot although there are a lot like me out there. Latest issue was with my e-mail and after my initial call, I was immediately transferred to support.com, without trying to solve my problem, who informed me they are separate from Comcast and that it's a separate charge to try to fix my problem. Really? Like over $200.00 a month isn't enough. I was not going to do that so I was told to call Comcast back directly as they could not transfer me. I did so and the call was dropped. Called again, jumped thru all their hoops for the 3rd time, and this time the person said she would put in an order for a tech person to call me back within 24 hours. I knew that wouldn't happen as the last time it took 4 days. Mind you this is just a return phone call, not someone coming to the house. This was Monday morning and it's now Wed afternoon and no return call. But I fixed it myself! So I don't need their help. I can't wait for our move and to switch to Brighthouse. I think the day I cancel the service here I will go out and celebrate. We are too close now to moving to our new home in TV to drop Comcast here and Chicago and start with another provider. I look forward to the future though.

We dropped COMCAST after 2 months and went to DIRECT TV....We ended up paying to cancel our contract to get out of DIRECT TV....Customer Service, "sub contractors" who show up when they want to for service calls rather than their appointment time AND not to mention the cost with inability to surf channels without the delay from channel to channel and storm interruptions........WE ARE NOW CENTURYLINK PRISM JUNKIES!! Great Customer Service, GREAT HDTV service and lightening fast Internet.....The FIRST & ONLY Cable / Internet Provider that actually sends a bill to tell you to call them so you can see if there are any current promotions that will save you $$$....LOVE CENTURYLINK.......STOP BY THE PRISM OFFICE IN front of Target and see Kayla.....Superb, Superb, Superb.....

You can also go online and watch the DirecTV programming while your dish is out of commission. I have had to do that a couple of times this year. Watching on my 37" Computer monitor is not really torture.

Thumbs up Understand

We had terrible problems with Comcast which included monthly bills that were false, service which proved they are the worst in the country, etc. As a result about a month ago we switched to Direct TV which we really like. The pictures are much better than Comcast and we get to see the NFL games. Net: We waited too long to cancel Comcast and we really like Direct TV.

I had Direct TV for a while but I didn't like losing the picture whenever it rained. I switched to Century Link Prism two years ago and I like it very much. No dish, it comes through wires. Phone and internet too it's all good

I just went round and round with Comcast. After telling them I was going to look into magic jack and that I had stopped automatic payment, they "found" another promotion for me. I still might stop by Century Link though.

Switched from Comcast to Direct TV to Dish, and finally got smart and switched to CenturyLink. The other 3 can not compete with CenturyLink for service and price.

Do you know if CenturyLink has the NFL Redzone or NFL Channel?

How does Comcast stay in business. I sure hope the FCC does not permit Comcast and Time Warner to merge! We like Brighthouse but that is not available in all Villages. We have Dish Network at our other home and like it.

Good question. They have spread themselves so thin they can't handle it all, especially given their outsourcing and these people are not properly trained. They also have a home security system. Can you imagine how they handle this? Also Business Comcast. Maybe all their resources go to the Business Comcast since they almost have a monopoly on their other services.
