Just put a label on our jar of jiffy, “for mouse traps only”. Will pick up a new jar for us next time at the supermarket.

We had one jar within the included lot numbers. Got it from Publix. Into the trash it went since it had been opened.

If you have a food processor or a powerful enough blender (Vitamix) it takes about 5 minutes to make your own. Just put all the ingredients into the blender (peanuts) and turn on high. Blend until it's peanut butter (a few minutes) and is either creamy or crunchy (your choice).

Haven't bought peanut butter in years. Don't need all the "extra" stuff they put in. If you want a little sugar or salt, you can add it, but being diabetic, I prefer the plain peanut butter. It is excellent.

At this point, I am making everything I can - butter, peanut butter, mayonnaise, (used to make mead) etc. I no longer trust the food factories.

With butter, I am looking for a local source of fresh heavy cream. But, at the moment still using store bought cream (not happy about it). You have to check the ingredients on store bought heavy cream, not all of them are "pure". Many have "added ingredients"...

One quart of heavy cream will make about 2 lbs of butter.

Some of the lots were sold LAST FALL.
It's not just recent purchases that are included.

Information regarding replacement on their web site is lacking. The 800 number for questions is not accessible (I am sure log jammed with calls).

I am a little surprised there is no direction given for replacement/refunds.

I will take my unopened jars back to Sam's Club.

"J.M. Smucker Company has voluntarily recalled certain JIF brand peanut butter products that have the lot code numbers between 1274425 – 2140425, only if the first seven digits end with 425 (manufactured in Lexington, KY).

There are a lot of numbers on food products. The numbers with lines, that is the bar code. That's not what you're looking for. Instead, look for the Best If Used By date. There you will find the date and a string of numbers underneath. Those are the numbers you're looking for, they are the lot code numbers.

As in the FDA's site guidance, the rule of thumb here is if you see a 425 sequence ending the first seven numbers."

Norton - Hey Ralph, what kind of peanut butter is that? Is that the crunchy kind?

Ralph - Yeah, it's the crunchy kind and I can prove it to you. When this jar hits your head, you'll hear a crunch."

Not possible. A quart of heavy cream yields around a pound of butter. The ratio of cream:butter is 2:1.

Also - I buy Teddie's peanutbutter. Hopefully, since their product comes from a different source than ConAgra et al, it won't be affected.

Hmmm a quart of cream should weigh 32 ounces but yields 16 ounces of butter?

Is this the new math?

We ate Teddies for a few years, they make excellent all natural. peanut butter.

You are right, my bad, you get about 1/2 butter from heavy cream, so 32 oz (a quart) would yield about one pound.

My Aunt worked for Teddy peanut butter for 30years ,she could walk a couple of blocks to work . It’s in the city of Everett right across the river from Boston it’s built in a small area of the city that was mostly Italian called the Village , a whole generation of families worked there , the owners have had many opportunities to leave the area but they have stayed ,but I don’t think for many more years , there’s a 2 billion dollar casino in Everett now and much of the industrial area of the city is being rebranded, it would be nice if all employers treated there workers the way teddy has
