This is probably a really dumb question, but that has never stopped me before. I remember a question long ago where I asked how to edit my posts and the kind strangers out there in TOTVland patiently tutored me all the way to the all too obvious answer that had been staring right at me.

So here's another plea for help:

OK. See this little guy on the white horse. -- crap

I really like him. I think of him as a knight in shining armor riding to the rescue.

I have used this little sword wielding guy in a couple of threads, one where I was writing about how the ham radio guys have you covered in a disaster. I thought I was saying good things, showing my respect.

Now, I suddenly notice that in the spot in the message box where the little guy goes, it says "crap" and I don't know why. OK, you just saw him again. I did not ask him to ride in. I was just trying to write "crap" and he showed up. OK I AM GOING TO TRY AGAIN. C--R--A--P ---- Aha, it worked.

But I don't get it. It's a little guy on a white horse. What am I missing? Does it have anything to do with road apples? I hope not.

Sometimes I can think sideways for fairly long periods of time. But I just don't get the allusion here. -- or is it an analogy? What in the crap is it?

Please explain.

Actually the name of the smiley is crap2.gif. I right clicked on the horse and clicked properties and it was under location.

Yes, but why does he have such a name?

I have looked at the names of the others and they make sense or they are just numbers. "Barf" is not the loveliest of names or images but at least it goes with the picture. ::

I am beginning to think I need to go back to work or something. Here I sit wondering why the little guy on the white horse has to endure such an inappropriate name. I really must get a life. Really. The winter has been way too long.

But back to the little guy.

Who names these things?

Maybe it was some broken hearted woman who thought she had found her knight in shining armor but he turned out to be full of the stuff or something. Who knows?

Anyway, DickY, thanks for trying. And btw, I love that dog picture. That looks like one happy pup.

But it just did not seem quite right. I am always trying to read in more I guess.

And now that you have mentioned parades, you just made me have a blast from the past...

Yeah it was hot.

There were horses in the lead.

Our uniforms were wool.

And I was destined to trudge along, squeaking away on my clarinet.

And the stupid clarinet was not even one of those cool black ones that came apart to put in the case. The damned thing was silver and one piece. It had belonged to my uncle when he was in high school many years before.

And I wanted to be a majorette not a clarinet. The white boots. The pleated skirts. I wanted it all. But the baton kept coming down and hitting me on the head. - good thing I never tried to twirl fire.

And...come to think of it...I always loved it when one of the majorettes stepped in some of that crap. I'll just think about that part.

Whew...I feel better now.
