The US has offered and Ukraine has accepted the offer for help in this investigation. The US can share it's collected intelligence with interested parties, plus the Boeing people will be very instrumental in collecting data. Teams of aviation experts are already on their way.

I think we should issue travel restrictions to the area and no longer import caviar and mail-order brides. (Sorry if this sounds too political.)

May their souls rest in peace and may their families be embraced with love and prayers during this tragedy.

I echo that prayer. There were three infants onboard, plus other children.
All innocents. Brings the death toll from 295 to 298. No one begins their flight expecting to be hit by a surface to air missile....

There is lots to do to determine exactly what caused this large plane to plummet to earth. Emotions are highly charged at this point....now it is time for science to help determine exactly what happened.

I do understand your concern about family flying, my son flies quite a bit. Mothers always worry no matter how old our babies are.

Prayers for all who have suffered because of this, as well as all of humanity are offered.

You are very welcome. I totally "get" how you feel with your son constantly flying. Same here. Like George Clooney in "Up in the Air". Airport to airport, coast to coast.

Has anyone noticed this numerical sequence?

Flight 17
July 17
Boeing 777

17
7/17
777

370

The first Malaysian Airlines flight that disappeared 4 months ago was 370

In my humble opinion, a civil war on the ground does not excuse the murder of 300 innocent people including possibly 23 American citizens, who were not part of that civil war.

I think that as a country we have an obligation to find out what happened to our citizens.

As far as all the people saying that we should focus on the victims, I'm not sure exactly what that means. We should think about and pray for them and their families?

We certainly all are going to do that, but taking actions such as investigating what has happened and if this was murder, holding those who perpetrated it, responsible, finding, apprehending and punishing them is the best that we can do for the families and loved ones of the victims.

Other than that, I don't know what, "focus on the victims and their families", means.

From what I last heard, there were most likely no Americans on that plane. It is a tragic thing BUT not our fight. Helping investigate is good but it is NOT our place to apprehend or punish. The USA should stay out of this civil war.

We were dragged into the Vietnam Civil War and over 58,000 Americans were killed. We went into Iraq over a lie and over 4,500 Americans were killed.

Let's stay out of this.

Malaysia Plane Crash Victims Included About 100 AIDS Conference Attendees, Report Suggests

It seems like a lot of the passengers who died in the recent Malaysia aircrash were AIDS researchers. That's a terrible blow as well to the progress of finding a cure to AIDS.

The news media was all over this story like flies on ****. Immediately speculating as to what our response should be before we even know who was responsible or what possible motive they could have had.
Whether or not American citizens were on board should be immaterial. 295 human lives were taken.

While this is certainly a tragedy one has to wonder why in the world are commercial airlines routing planes directly over a known war zone? If you go downtown into the hood in the dark of night and then get beaten and robbed the first thing the cops are going to ask you is "what were you doing there in the first place?"
