I first noticed the buns on young Asian men at the gyms in SoCal several years ago. They were the Judo, Karate, MMA and the like kind of guys. It seemed to me they were trying to resemble Samurai warriors or something. More recently I see them on young physically assertive type anglo and hispanic men.

As for pony tails, they have been popular in Santa Fe, NM for a very long time, especially among the artsy-f@rtsy types. They never really went out of style there after they first appeared in the mid 1960's among hippies and peace/protester types all over the country. Frankly they look ridiculous on most of the anglo men there who are middle aged and older, balding to almost bald and are fat enough to look about 8 months pregnant. The American Indian men of all ages there are almost always blessed with beautiful hair so they look great (and normal) wearing pony tails. Of course I have been around them since I was a child in the 1940's so their pony tails suit their appearance somehow IMHO.

Oh, I have pictures.
But he has pictures of my mini skirts and hair down to... parted in the middle, of course.

And the requisite peasant blouses I'm sure. My wife definitely looked cute in her outfits. Her hair wasn't quite as long though. Nurses had to wear their hair up, or not past shoulder length. [emoji41]

I like them and I'm an old lady. It keeps the hair out of their face and usually looks neat.

Thumbs down In a word: No.

My kids, who hover at, or just above and below age 50, will tell you that they can never recall a time when my hair style was any different from today (although it is not as thick as in the younger years, and now has some grey.) That signals my preference.

I did flirt briefly in my 40's with a mustache, but felt it made me look like Pancho Villa, so that was gone quickly. Also, longer sideburns for a while, but not for long.

Man buns and pony tails --- never. Never.

Others can make whatever fashion statement they wish, but it is not for me.

And, do I actually like it on others? Well,..........no.

Actually it is really old fashion, looks totally ridiculous, and those who choose to look that way...I got some news for you.

It's like Looking at the Rear End Of A Horse.

Get with the program get the hedge trimmer out and cut it.
