I actually find the Daily Sun a very enjoyable read. With a great cup of coffee, it starts my day off right!!!

I laughingly refer to The Sun as the "propaganda newspaper" and to VLG as the propaganda station. I do believe that they give some good info to keep you aware of what is going on in the Villages but past that, they are rather flat. They are what they are. The Sun is a step ahead of the Station but I do read and listen to both, and accept them for what they are. If you want a real newspaper subscribe to the Otlando Sentinel.

Completely agree. It is better than my hometown Kansas City Star, and the Star consistently wins journalism awards.

Yeah, you could get some news earlier online, but I have always found a newspaper to be a relaxing experience.

We bought a copy of the Daily Sun before heading home to Kansas on Sunday, and read it when I got here later that night.

And the beauty of it is, if you don't like it, don't subscribe. No harm, no foul.

I am surprised no one suggested that you continue to monitor TOTV because you can learn more about The Villages here than from the Daily Sun

A local newspaper can give a reader a good sense of a community. I agree with the OP. In fact I subscribed to the Daily News by mail before it was even a 7 day paper. That goes back to 1998. I learned a lot by the paper.

When I worked at The Daily Sun in 1999, one of my jobs was getting the out-of-town subscribers their paper ready for the Post Office.

The labels came from the circulation dept and were separated by regions all over the USA. I would prepare 25 per bag and sometimes have as many as 15 heavy bags. I would then drive to the Daily Sun admin office on Main St for the paperwork and proceed to the Post Office on CR25 for drop-off.

Sometimes we had as many as 400 papers going out. I don't know when the service stopped but at one time it was alive and kicking.

I guess The Villages just got too big!

This wannabee always enjoys reading The Daily Sun when I have visited TV. Next month I will get to read the full edition of the Daily Sun while I visit . I usually log on to the Daily Sun's web site several times a week to read the articles posted there. I wish the entire Daily Sun was available on line for wannabees, snowbirds and snowflakes to view.

The Daily Sun is about us. It tells about our interests and our churches and synagogues and our charities and our sports and our volunteering and our crafts and our arts and our music and our families and our accomplisments. It highlights a villager every day and even highlighted our Helene one day. It tells about all the fun things that we seniors do and as a result is a vehicle to sell homes, but it's editorial page is not for everyone but probably pleases the majority of the population here. It was owned by the developer but was sold to someone who has continued the developer's views. The long time managing editor, Meta Minton, retired in April and is now writing the online paper; The Voice. (That isn't quite right but it doesn't have Villages in it) What is the exact name?

The people who look for a different editorial page can get The Tampa Bay Times or the Orlando Sentinel.

We aren't ever going to change each other's minds at this point about our philosophy of life and our politics.

But we will try.
