[Polar Bear]

In the late 80's, my mom and I went to see Arnie play at Innisbrook. She was one of the very few I may have considered an even bigger fan of Arnie than I am.

At one point we positioned ourselves along the ropes where we knew Arnie would be walking between the current green and the next tee. Arnie sank a long putt on that green, and that excited Mom even more than she already was. Arnie walked along toward the next tee right next to us. As he walked past, Mom reached out and slapped Arnie on the back...probably just a bit too hard in her excited state ...and said "way to go, Arnie!"

Arnie, not expecting the rather firm congratulatory pat, stopped in his tracks and lurched around...with a bit of a startled grimace on his face...to check out the culprit. He spotted Mom. She was devilishly giggling of course, hands over her mouth as if trying to contain herself. Arnie spotted her, his frown went away, and he waved and smiled that Arnie smile at Mom before continuing on his way.

After that day, Mom always said...jokingly of course (that's my story and I'm sticking to it ) that Arnie was the one guy she'd have left Dad for!! [emoji23]

Arnie really was The King.
