It’s Time To Fully Transform and Modernize Your Roof with Sky Light Roofing Villages #SkylightRoofingVillages “When it comes to Villages roofing, the choices you make can significantly impact your property’s value, energy efficiency, and overall durability. At Sky Light Roofing, we specialize in delivering exceptional roofing solutions here in TV’s that not only meet but exceed industry standards”. Today, we want to present a compelling case for opting for a full roof replacement here in The Villages using Top-Quality Owens Corning TruDefinition Designer Duration Architectural Laminate. Step away from “sub-par builder grade materials” that are susceptible to FL barometric activity, moisture, wind, and sub-tropical environments. Many Villagers have opted for partial roofing repairs post storms (Which we entirely respect and never sway your thoughts otherwise). The only unfortunate part is that the original 30 lb-felt paper in still in place (much of the time) and not truly creating a modern “moisture and cooling barrier” with Synthetic Membrane over entire roof space; Along with valley-water shield, upgraded ridge baffles, and potentially a Solar Attic Fan (35W) for much more enhanced protection / ventilation on Villa, Single-Family, or Premier Home. Why Choose Full Replacement? While repairs may seem like a cost-effective solution in the short term, they often lead to recurring issues and escalating costs down the line. A full replacement, on the other hand, offers you peace of mind and long-term value. By investing in a new roofing system, you eliminate the risks associated with aging materials and unforeseen leaks, ensuring that your property remains safe and secure for many more years than your current builder grade materials here in The Villages. If you let one of these companies examine your roof, they will almost certainly claim they found damage and you need a new roof, even if your roof is fine. Be honest and just say no. And start saving money to pay for your own roof replacement instead of asking the rest of it to pay for it for you out of our insurance premiums. |

And the snide remarks continue. If you think asking here is bad strategy, why answer at all? lol!!

Mike... The Florida roofing scam often involves contractors showing up after a major storm and offering homeowners a “free” roof replacement. Here’s how it usually goes down:
1. Initial Pitch: A contractor knocks on the door and tells the homeowner that their roof likely has damage from the storm and they can get a brand-new roof at no cost. They might even claim that insurance will fully cover it. 2. Fake Inspection: The contractor will "inspect" the roof and may even cause damage themselves or exaggerate any minor issues. 3. Assignment of Benefits (AOB): The contractor convinces the homeowner to sign an “Assignment of Benefits” form. This transfers the homeowner’s insurance rights to the contractor, allowing them to deal directly with the insurance company. In theory, this is supposed to streamline the process—but in practice, it’s often a setup for inflated claims. 4. Inflated Claims: The contractor then submits an inflated claim to the insurance company, sometimes charging for things that weren’t damaged or for unnecessary repairs. If the insurer rejects or questions the claim, the contractor (now with legal standing) might sue them. 5. Lawsuits and Increased Costs: The contractor may take legal action against the insurance company over the claim, which drives up costs. Florida had been notorious for the volume of these lawsuits, leading to higher premiums across the board as insurance companies tried to offset their losses. Because of the rampant fraud, Florida passed several laws in recent years to crack down on the abuse of AOBs in roofing claims. Homeowners are now advised to be cautious, avoid signing an AOB, and directly involve their insurance company if they suspect storm damage. Last edited by ouicestmoi; 11-02-2024 at 07:26 AM. Don’t let them on your roof. It’s a scam. If you feel you have damage contact your insurance company directly and a real inspector will be sent out.

Pretty sure that's insurance fraud, when a roofing company offers a "free roof" when it's clearly ok.I think that's a felony. Not sure why law enforcement isn't involved.
Kindof like the "Chase Free Money Hack"

I don't know if this has already been addressed to your satisfaction, but I will give you, my experience.
Someone in the neighborhood was having it done and then another and before I knew it so was I. What I found out was that depending on your insurance policy determined what your out of pocket was going to be. I have Farmer, who are dropping me next year because they are leaving Florida. my total was $500. It was a very pleasant experience, the only thing I had to do was pick out the color of the shingle from the samples presented to me which they had already cleared that I could use, and the job was completed in 3 days. There are some in the neighborhood who did not have it done and after the hurricane suffered damage and have tarps on their roofs. Check with your insurance company and see what they cover. |

Yes, it is a scam, yes, your rates will go up, and by the way so will ALL of ours... this just one reason is why Florida is in the insurance debacle we are paying for now.

My neighbor was getting his roof inspected, and they came to my door and offered the same free inspection. I told him that I did not want an inspection or his card. I don't know why people view insurance as their means to avoid paying for roof replacement. Insurance is available in the event of a catastrophe, and replacement of an aging roof should be out-of-pocket. I heard that insurance companies are going to drop insurance after 10 years for a 20-year roof. People who play the game only make things worse for everyone.

If you feel you have damages to your roof, report it to your insurance company. Do not sign any contract with a roofer until after your house is inspected by your insurance company Do not allow the "roofer" access to your roof. |
