Can I ask what is the final bill you are paying for the WalMart $45 straight talk plan.....this would include taxes service fees all the extras? I assume these are foor "Smart Phones" voice and data.

If you have 2 phones is it just 2X that??

Jail breaking an iPhone isn't illegal, unlocking it is (as of today!)

If you have an older iPhone (i.e. 3GS or older), you are probably stuck with whomever you have your current service. If your iPhone is newer, it has a SIM card that can be switched out to use another network.

Here's the caveat: Most carriers will NOT unlock your iPhone to use a competitors network. For instance, I have a Verizon iPhone and they will not unlock it to use AT&T's network. They will, however, unlock the phone so I can use it internationally. If you go to Europe, you can have your iPhone unlocked and purchase a SIM card from T-Mobile or Vodaphone, etc. and have local service there...much cheaper than in the US. You also get unlimited data plan for the time you're there.

The other alternative available is the "jailbreak" your iPhone. Be advised, it will void any warranty you have remaining and a law was just passed that makes it illegal. I would say procede with caution, in this regard.

Best of luck, in your quest....
Yes, what you are saying is what I heard:-(. Thanks for the details. I'll have to give this some thought...

My bill is $48.47/month with taxes on my $45/month plan. I have the Proclaim phone and absolutely love it. And yes it would be 2X that if you had 2 phones. I have auto pay so it is billed auto each month. Love the service.

Both my wife and I have Straight Talk and have NEVER had a problem. For the price it is the best phone deal around.

I have been using the service for 3 yrs and I would recommend it, I have the 45 dollar unlimited phone and text plan with no contract. You can also get the newer hotshot phones to work with the program if you buy unlocked phones. I know people who run the Samsung III and iPhone 4. But unlocked phones are expensive.

Jackie you can do it but you would have to buy an unlocked iPhone.

We have been with Verizon since 2003 and have the Senior Plan, it's 200 minutes prime time and 300 minutes weekends for $30 a month, with tax it's $36.

We almost never use our cell phone, we carry it mostly for emergencies and ocassionally we will receive or make a call once a week. Our home phone is with Century Link has unlimited long distance included, so that has become our main phone. We have been thinking of switching to Consumer Cellular with AARP, is this the best deal or is there anything cheaper such as Straight Talk? We would like to keep our same cell number we've had since 1999 but knock our bill down to say $15 or $20 a month.

Do not let your Straight Talk phone run out past 3 months. I did and they cancelled my cim card number. I could not activate it with the service card.
They will send you out a new one. but it is after a along time on the phone. Oddly some times I let it go longer with no problems.

turn it into a 'GO PHONE' 10 cents a minute just change the sim card. you dont have to unlock it or aanything else. i have it on both an iphone 3 and an iphone4. you will need a micro sim for the iphone 4. att will give it to you with the same number for free.
