Groundhog Day (1993) - Rotten Tomatoes
I just watched Groundhog Day again looking to see if my Aunt Lorraine, Uncle Bill, cousin Jeff or any other people who I knew were in the movie. It sounds like they trucked in a lot of extras from Chicago so not too many Woodstock, IL locals were in the movie. No sign of any relatives in the movie. Is there some day you would like to live over and over again and somehow work on improving or just leave as it was? My former flame's birthday of October 12, 1989 and our dinner train trip in Stillwater and other romantic stuff might be mine. Zephyr Dinner Train in Stillwater, Minnesota I did have to listen to her defend lawyers with the seat mate we had however which got kind of old fast. She was one of my students in Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners prior to that but we started dating while I was her roommate after I graduated from Law School. She kind of had a captive audience with me. She was finishing up Law School while I was working in the Law Library. The day ended extremely well though. Kind of like the movie Groundhog Day. She is doing good work in the Midwest helping make the court system more accessible. Last edited by Taltarzac725; 09-17-2016 at 07:55 AM. |

Tal that is an interesting thought. I believe all of us look back on past events with a "what if" at the tip of our tongue.
Specifically our past comes back to us not as a movie but more like a series of power points (slides) or that snapshot in time. I can recreate many pivotal moments (ie the road taken) that had a significant affect on my future path and you do wonder "what if" As to re-living certain events over again not so much for me once is enough....once make the event special...... |

Yes, I do have a favorite day and fortunately I have been able to re-live it many times.
In November 1970 I was a student an the Univ of Florida and I asked the girl next door to go to the beach for the day. We drove to Fort Matanzas (just south of St. Augustine), parked the car, walked across the road to the beach, and then walked south around the peninsula until we arrived back at the parking lot. After that, we drone into town for lunch. In the evening we went to the pier where we kissed for the first time. We got engaged five months later. We have gone back there many times to re-do our walk, most recently four days ago. The park at the Fort is more beautiful than ever and the natural ocean currents have re-shaped the beach so it is much nicer now. As for the girl - after two kids and four grands, we enjoy the walk more than ever. |

This may sound weird, but hear goes. As I was being inducted at Fort Hamilton we went through a physical before we swore the oath to defend our country. We all had to strip down to our skivvi's for the physical. Of course I'd been going commando since I was 12, so there I stood right hand raised totally buck naked swearing to defend our country and constitution. I suppose I'd want to relive this particular moment in my life because for the first time in my 18 years it made me feel like a man, naked for all to see and I didn't give a crap. Bring it on, so to speak...

I don't know about a day but the night of my high school's junior prom was one of the best and most memorable nights of my life! I could nor improve it no matter how I tried - if I wanted to.

I was sixteen and had been in a few foster homes and boarding schools. A wonderful foster dad, (he was a Boy Scout Executive), jumped through all the hoops to get me started as a Merchant Seaman. I liked the Boy Scouts, a great organization. Well, in San Pedro, Mr Greene got me started on my first ship, a tanker, going all over the world, carrying fuel from the Persian Gulf to Military Positions. Well!!!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, a job, a permanent home, a good salary, a great learning challenge, and all the travel one could want, every day! That started a great life again for me. Best day of my life, walking up that gangway of that first ship was a walk out into a new life. bbbbbb ![]() |
