Glad he is safe. His son is going to be a great golfer also.

Excessive speed and possible under the influence of narcotics (even if they were prescribed)!

I DID learn, thx posters, about the stress on the right leg and brake etc. If I didn't 'care', and didn't post, and others respond, I would not have learned this. However that would make more sense to me if there was evidence of hard braking by Tiger. No tire markings on pavement. But time will tell - for interested people who care.

What markings occur with anti-locking brake technology ?

good point. I did not think of that - and the LEOs reported there were no pavement skid marks...

but with that point and the right leg injuries to Tiger>
PERHAPS that is what occured...

Very high speed and out of control - Tiger applies the brakes extremely hard - no skid anti lock brakes - rollovers - leg still extended on brake pedal - slam slam slam. Impacts over, and air bags and seatlbelt saved his life, but his right leg...

Thanks to all on the Thread who had provided good points!

God isn’t finished with Tiger yet. How he survived at all is miraculous. The doctors are saying that he will never play competitive golf at his current level ever again. I hope they are wrong. He scratched his way out of a scandal and humbled himself and he has had numerous surgeries to his back, so he changed his swing. I pray he works hard in rehab when the time comes. His legacy is already set in stone as one of the greatest golfers that ever stepped foot on a course. He may never win another major, but I hope he returns to the game he loves. I have learned that you never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Read this thread to see how false information, innuendo, speculation creates fake news, which as far as many are concerned becomes the truth!

yep.

I'd don't like to use the word "typical", but it IS on this Forum as you probably know.

We're all human and some of us jump to conclusions, unknowingly provide invalid or incorrect information, feel we are "experts", and IMO the worst---the "know-it-alls" who feel they must continually post on & on & on and pick at EVERYTHING. I think we know some of these folks...

Our ToTV Forum is a microcosm of the country and the world.

Why seriously doubt that anyone would buy a vehicle like his? Not his BTW - a loaner. Actually, we own 2 genesis' and considering STILL trading the older one in for the SUV. It's a fantastic car brand.

I am happy that as of this moment it seems that Tiger wasn't wrecked. For the rest of his life he will have to prove himself in every jam he gets into because of past practice and I believe that it is rightfully so that he has to.

Has he gotten behind the wheel under the influence of something several times? Yupper! He hopefully will chill out after this experience. If I could prescribe something to help him it would be some kind of a 12 step program that he attends because he wants to not because a judge tells him to. It would be great if he could get a hold of the fact that even though he is Tiger Woods that he is really just a small fish in a big bowl. His bones break and he bleeds and worries like everyone else. Calm down with the big houses, the flashy women, and the self-importance.

I speak from experience. I lost my way for a while after my father passed away. Seems the same thing might have occurred here.

This situation made me think of Kobe Bryant. If he wasn't so rich he wouldn't have been in a helicopter he would have been on a miserable highway in California next to someone possibly named Kevin Bryant and still be alive today. They should all slow down and chill a little.

I wish him and especially his children a better future together. I wish the same thing for Kobe's family.

Who specifically and what kind of trouble did he get into with them?

So you pick one line out of my post and focus on that. I said that the fact that others didn't isn't an excuse. I only say because it's not unusual behavior. There are plenty of people that have done a lot worse things than Tiger but you hardly ever hear about them. Living in a fishbowl makes everything he does seem worse.

I'm not excusing his behavior. I'm only pointing out that he gets criticized a lot because everything he does makes news. On the other hand millions of people all over the world are praying for him.

As an owner of a GV80, I can say it's a phenomenal vehicle with a ton of safety features. I have no idea what caused his injuries, but if I had to guess, it would be the engine pushing into the cabin.

There is nothing unusual that I can tell about the console that would cause problems that wouldn't occur in any other similar sized SUV.

What I can also say is that the the lane keep assist may be an accident waiting to happen. It will sometimes pull quickly to the right when the lines in the road change, i.e. when a new lane to the right comes up. If you're not completely paying attention, you could easily drive off into the ditch when that lane is short. It almost happened to me when I was on the initial test drive. I now only use that feature on the highway.

Until now, I never realized The Villages has an extremely large population of accident reconstruction experts.

About 7-8 years ago we were taking our kids to the airport in very light traffic, traveling in the right lane. A pickup truck towing a horse trailer in front of us suddenly cut across three lanes from the right lane to enter the service area (where the trooper barracks are). The truck made it into the entrance ramp, but the trailer was still on the road. A Mini Cooper in the left lane going (our guess) around the speed limit plowed into the side of the trailer and "exploded" in a cloud of glass and rolled not sure how many times into the parking area. We had to continue, figuring to stop on our way home if we could answer any questions as witnesses.

A trooper stopped us as we approached in the parking lot, and we explained that we had witnessed the accident and nervously asked about the car's driver. "He's right over there. You can talk to him" He was emptying personal items from the destroyed car, before it was pulled onto a flat bed. We told him we saw the accident, and seeing that he was alive and not injured, we said that we didn't think anyone could survive that accident.

He answered by saying that at the moment of impact, he didn't think he would survive either! "The airbags, the airbags" he kept repeating. The two horses were out of the trailer, grazing next to the fence. The driver of the pickup said that she made a sudden decision to stop at the service area and never saw the Mini Cooper.

We couldn't believe it. We still can't.
