So many people post here - and they throw all kinds of numbers out - if you want to believe them - fine. But, they are not experts. Are they epidemiologists? Are they statisticians? I doubt it - they read an article and regurgitate the numbers like they know what they are talking about. If they were experts - they’d probably place their credentials in the post.

I am in my 70s. I have travelled by plane - many times this past year - to visit friends and family. I have welcomed people in my new home since I have moved here - no masks required (I always wear one in public places that require masks & practice social distancing - I do it to be considerate to those who fear) - but not required in my home.

I choose to live life in good and bad times. I have encountered so many threats over the past 70 years - how have I gotten thru them? I have had help from others, I am there for others and I do not run away and hide.

Judging by the responses, Walrus, methinks your sarcasm fell on deaf ears

So even if we assume that everyone is vaccinated, 5 out of every 100 people are still going to be susceptible to Covid. The good news for everyone, inoculated or not is (and it’s the same good news we’ve had all along):

1. Not everyone who is out and about is going to get infected. Far from it. Covid has only infected a minority of the population. Yes there are millions of symptom-free infected people who don’t know they are/were infected, but when you tally the total of known and statistical infections, the majority of the population has not been infected, even after a year.

2. IF you are unvaccinated and get infected, you have an 80% chance of having no symptoms or a mild case with no long term effects. Repeat - 80%. That percentage is the aggregate and accounts for all age groups with or without comorbidities. And it means that if you are quite elderly AND have a compromised immune system, you’ll probably STILL be okay. This fact is all over the internet from reputable sources, but the media doesn’t publicize it. It also means, however, that you have a 20% chance of having symptoms, perhaps severe symptoms.

That said, the vaccinated people are not 100% protected. They still have a 5% chance of having symptoms and I’m not sure they understand this. They do seem to understand, because Fauci said so, that they do still have a chance of being a carrier and passing it on to someone else if they get infected.

So I ask: Most of us were VERY concerned when we had a 20% chance. Some were petrified. Why aren’t we still wringing our hands and clutching our pearls with a 5% chance? Is it because the vaccine seems to be 100% effective against hospitalization and death?*

The only solution is people need to continue to stay home. No restaurants, no town squares, continue to have your goods delivered to your home. Keep them quarantined for a week and then sanitize them. Never touch your face with unwashed hands. No guests of any kind in your home.

And if you do need to go out, wear two masks, stay 6 feet apart. And don’t shake hands with anyone.

That’s how you stay safe.

Me, I have not left my home in a year, and I will stay home until Covid disappears whether I get vaccinated or not.

You say it's all over the internet, but only what they want you to see. Do you not have any idea how many people have been taken off of all forms of social media because their statements were not nanny state approved? There are hundreds of doctors out there with different opinions than Fraudci & others. This is sad when a Mom in NY gets her 6 yr. old daughter taken away because she did not have on a mask in her car when she dropped her daughter off. A father in Canada gets arrested because he called his trans daughter, his daughter. Do you really want to live in a world that controls every aspect of your life. You need to do some research but you will never find the truth if you believe the main stream media which 90% is controlled by 6 corporations.

Numbers have been skewed since day one. Each individual needs to do what they feel proper for their particular situation. Those attempting to impose their will on others needs to stop. Factual information on COVID fails to be reported honestly in the media. Some will chose to not get the vaccine, some refuse to wear masks, it's a conspiracy to control the population.... Our family has been touched by COVID some very mild cases, two hospitalized in ICU (still struggling), and a life long friend was taken from us. Take a deep breath look at your circumstances and live your best life the way you feel appropriate, allow others to do the same.

Please don't encourage people to not get vaccinated.

Yes, the vaccine is 95% effective for complete immunity.

Not getting the vaccine means you are 100% at risk of contacting Covid.

PLEASE DON'T ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO RISK THEIR HEALTH!!

Good you stay home but don't force your views on everyone else. I'm not living like that.

Ok, now I see why this ridiculousness was posted. I'd become mentally unstable as well if I stayed home and in the host for a month. I've made multiple trips to caribbean islands and the squares since recovering from Covid last year.

I can't let myself whither and die!

The sad part of this is that with all the MSM fear producing propaganda this last year a post like this was not seen immediately as sideways humor (including by me). There have been many, many posts exactly like this over the last year that were meant sincerely. And we know the numbers have been skewed from day one. Amazing how so many other "normal" illnesses have gone away completely - and no one is dying from them anymore. At least in the last year. It will be interesting to see how all of this isolation and masking will have affected everyone's immune system to other things. I have been respectful of others space but have done nothing to isolate my immune system from normal life and normal germs this last year.

Don't try to talk these people out of staying home for the next few years!

I sincerely hope you are joking about not leaving your home in over a year and advising others to stay home. In perspective of your facts and figures, I have a much better chance of getting bumped off by a golf cart while taking my walk on the MMP every day due to discourteous, drivers who are unwilling to slow down even a little.
