Walmart is know for it's enormous buying power that allows them to purchase in such great quantity that suppliers have to cut back prices...and the lower prices are passed on to the customers. That attracts people who watch their money and those who do not have much money and sometimes they don't dress up to other's standards.

We all are different. All lives matter.

It's just politics. Some folks complained so rather than lose customers, they will post an impotent sign that won't be enforced. They know that if they try to enforce that rule, they will lose customers to their competition. I've seen some that go into stores that have signs requiring a mask that wear it under their chin. Of course, why wear one at all if you are going to have it under you chin. I guess they just wish to make a statement.

Exactly this. I feel it'll make more trouble than it's worth. The manager is going to be kept busy answering complaints that this lady or that guy or those people in aisle 7 aren't wearing their mask. And yes people DO complain when someone is not following guidelines in the stores.

HOWEVER

It WILL increase mask useage, because people who say "I won't wear one inside unless the store requires it" will start wearing them.

So there's a plus to the rule, even if it can't be enforced.

People are getting sick, hospitals bed inventory depleting, deaths increasing, studies show that masks shorten the distance droplets travel and somehow that's political? If people don't want to help just step up and say I don't want to help to keep my friends and neighbors safe and since I am focused on my beliefs I won't play.

I will never understand why some find rules like this one offensive.

Never. I am so glad the folks I know and love never think twice about this.

It isn't political. Both sides of the aisle friends. Men and women friends. Old and young friends and family. Church goers and non believers do it. Lots of them. All of them. Or they wouldn't be. People I love.

Masks DO stop the spread! It’s clear and the proof is that the countries that have mandated mask wearing and stay at home policies are seeing the spread of the virus go down , even to the point that many are reopening their economy. They also, by the way, don’t want Americans coming to their country because we have failed miserably in stopping the spread of the virus because of the lack of leadership in this country. We are pitied because we are so stupid and are , seemingly, in a race with countries like Brazil to see if we can continue being number one in the world in deaths. It’s not “freedom” to be the reason for not caring how many people get sick or die.
The similarities between America and Nazi Germany increase with each passing day, including embracing a death culture. This virus is not going to “just disappear “. The sooner that mandated behavior is required, and violators suffer a penalty for not doing so, the quicker this disease can be managed instead of the dumpster fire that is raging in states like Florida. It’s nice to hope for a vaccine, but it’s never been easy to develop one for a corona virus. Even the vaccines for the flu aren’t foolproof.
It’s also wrong to mandate kids return to school since we know very little about the long term consequences of getting infected with this virus. It could have deleterious effects years, or even decades, after becoming infected. There are viruses that do exactly that. How can anyone assume that isn’t possible with this virus? We are learning new things about this virus with each passing day. For instance, it is looking like you aren’t immune to catching it again and the protective antibodies that manifest after becoming infected are surprisingly of a short duration.

Children who catch COVID-19 and recover are suffering from permanent lung and/or heart damage as a result. They recover - but they will never be healthy again.

Every child? This is the fear that spreads to every parent out there. Misinformation is as bad as the virus itself.

And just for general FYI, not specifically to canyonblue (but if the shoe fits)...

Cognitive dissonance is when you applaud unidentified strangers wearing military-style gear carrying military-grade weapons, snatching up people into unmarked vans, then turn around and claim that having to wear a mask is like living in a dictatorship.
Oh boy. I know this. When a person who has the word Police on his/her shirt and you know it is valid, and he/she says STOP, do not walk toward me, then my cognition tells me to STOP, don't walk toward him/her. It is also wise not to flip someone the bird who is carrying a big stick or tear gas with the word Police on his/her shirt. That person did not come there to talk or march or proclaim certain colors matter, but to make you move away from where you are.

He/she is righter in MY book than the person who is advancing on her/him. NO one can ever get me to see that getting all together to get mad and break things and shout and hold on to each other in a Pandemic when lousy germs are out to kill or harm you is a good thing to do.

Went to Winn Dixie in Pinellas Plaza today which now requires masks. There were people not wearing masks, not only a few. We saw a manager by the cash register when checking out and asked about it, they are not enforcing it. Don’t want to instigate anything. They don’t want other employees to say anything either. Therefore why say masked are required verses requested. Some stores you go and enter with no mask and are told a mask is required. Shirt and shoes are required, why not wear the mask.

If people would have worn masks and stayed home when possible we could have been going to entertainment in the squares by now.
