The eaglets are getting huge. It is fun to watch them grow. They are no longer cute little white fuzzy babies.

Oh, I looked for that information and didn't see it. Thanks. I still check the site at daily. It is facinating! I wonder if they are scared before they take their first flight. I bet it's exciting to them when they get up the courage and actually fly from the nest for the first time. Maybe they don't remember it later though, much like we don't remember our first steps.

I've been watching the eagle cam for two months. Today I discovered something I should have known all along. Duh.
If you right click on the picture, and hit "zoom", you can look at the eagle cam full screen. Neato!

Wow, I guess we can't even call them eaglets anymore. They're getting so big. The biggest one especially keeps flapping and flapping. I guess they'll be taking flight in a couple of weeks or less. They are still so fascinating to watch.

KathieI - I have enlarged the image in IE by pressing the "Ctrl" key and then the "+" key. This will enlarge your screen by 10% each time. You can reduce it by pressing the "-" key after the "ctrl" key. I found that the image is clearer than using the full screen key. Try it, I hope it helps.

Apparently the eaglets will practice flying in the nest, and will actually be flying by the end of May. However they continue to return to the nest for food. It should be fun to watch as they start their first expeditions.

Has anyone seen if they have posted the gender of the eaglets? I scrolled throught the info on the side and didn't spot it. As one is noticably larger, I am wondering if that one is male and the other two female. |

Adult male eagles are smaller than females. I was thinking the puny one is a male, but perhaps it was just the last one to be hatched so it may be a bit behind in growth. Following is a great suggestion from Jerseyboy2. Probably everyone else in the world except me already knows this ... but I had no idea you could enlarge stuff this way! Very helpful. Last year the oldest eaglet branched at 67 days. (Branching is when the eaglets try their wings and land on a branch beside the nest)
Camellia, this year's oldest eaglet, is now 60 days old. She is spending a lot of time sitting on the side of the nest and looking over. I think she'll start branching sometime soon.
