Everyone I've shown the "Eagle Cam" to really enjoy watching. Oh, and one night I thought I saw the shape of a cat behind the nest. It's a tree limb with knots. When the light is just right and the eagle isn't in the way, and a few toddie...well, I know Pturner. My husband laughed too.

7:30 AM on Thursday. Both mom and dad eagles are on the nest at the same time feeding the babies. Usually they take turns. Amazing to watch!

All three are thriving. The youngest just looks like it's getting less food but that's because it is younger. They are so cute to watch, especially when they wobble to the edge of the nest to relieve themselves. I am so impressed with the parents and how caring both are. We should all take lessons from eagles.

I agree that it is hard to watch the third little eglet get "ignored". But that is just our perception. Every day someone expresses a concern to the moderators that the third baby is starving or dead. And the moderators assure us that all babies are well fed and cared for. Apparently this mom has already mothered 13 eaglets successfully and she knows what she is doing.
And Redwitch is right, we should all take lessons from the eagles. Both parents are very devoted, and all eaglets are doing fine. I think this site is the BEST! I can't start my day without checking on the eagles.

This morning I caught one of the eaglets giving big yawn, right into the camera. It opened it's mouth so wide you could practically see it's tonsils. (Do eagles have tonsils?) I love the site. I'm in awe. Thanks again, Bare, for this treasure. |

Eaglet Banding Alert
The three eaglets are being banded at 9 AM on Wednesday, March 3l. They remove the eaglets from the nest to band them and then return them. Since the eagle nest is located 40 feet high, this should be interesting.
Apparently the parents fly overhead during the banding process, but are not aggressive. And the parents readily accept the eaglets back in the nest.

The cam's been down for 2 days. Hopefully they'll have it working by tomorrow at 9am so we can see the banding.
Don't know about you, but since the cam went down, I've gotten more housework done, LOL!!

KathieI, I've been watching the cam off-and-on all day. I read that they are having intermittent problems with the video stream and are working to get it corrected. I'm watching now as a matter of fact!! The eaglets have gotten so big...

Kathie, I'm able to see the video this afternoon. If you haven't already, try going to your view menu and hitting refresh (or the equiv. if you're not using IE). Sometimes that brings back the video if it's gone black.
Cuz, they are growing, aren't they! Hawkwind, thanks for the video of the '07 banding. I have a tee time Wednesday morning and will miss the banding. |

I'm shocked how quickly they've grown. I'm also impressed with the parents. The eaglets are too big to "brood" (be brooded?) but the parents take turns sitting on the side of the nest and guarding those toddlers. I haven't witnessed a poo over the side of the nest by the eaglets yet though!!
