Thanksgiving was always somewhat challenging for my family when I was young. We lived about an hour away from both sets of grandparents and both expected us for a meal. So we would drive to one house for a mid-day meal and to the other for an evening meal. It was nice since we would see our cousins, but challenging because we had to eat enough at the first meal to make Grandma happy, but not so much that we could not eat enough at the second meal to keep that Grandma happy. LOL

But, the Thanksgiving meal I remember most is the one we were snowed in and couldn't travel to either house. All we had was an Appian Way pizza kit. So our big "meal" was a piece of homemade pizza from a box!

We shut down my brother's cafe and everyone brings food which extends halfway down the bar. It is great to be with family and friends.

I remember your talking about that last year. It still sounds great!

I'm an odd duck as Thanksgiving has never been a big deal to me
My parents lived so far away from their families it wasn't possible to visit
My mom hated cooking
My dad hates turkey
We didn't have a lot of money
We would watch the Macy's parade and have ham biscuits for dinner

Ya know, no matter what we did, it's all about the memories !!! Our parents all did the best they could and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Then we all did the best we could.
All of our memories helped make us the people we are today.
In the end, it doesn't matter if it was filet mignon or hambuger. Ham and biscuits sounds yummy to me.

We love Thanksgiving! We've hosted every holiday for family and friends for the past 27 years. It's one of our favorite times since it is all about the food. It feels strange this year since it will be our last in our home. (We hope to be in TV this time next year.) What will I do with all our fancy stuff? I've collected silver, serving platters, crystal, wine glasses, linens, salt cellars, fancy stuff galore for years. Bob plans to tell everybody to take everything home at the end of the meal! He's looking forward to driveway parties and red solo cups.

Not exactly true, Red, you made a wonderful Thanksgiving meal for a few of us visiting TV in '07 who were away from our families. I have wonderful memories of that day, you were an excellent cook, great hostess and we had a great day!!
