I was an elementary teacher for 8 years (before children). I then retired and my husband had to support us. Husband had business degree and then a law degree (this usually brings up a lot of bad comments, so he usually tells people he was a drug dealer instead)

In High School I majored in Boys.
After marriage and several children I returned to school at two technical schools in Panama City, Florida and Milwaukee, Wisconsin to learn data processing. While working for the Federal Government I took advantage of the many educational opportunities available and went from being a Command Secretary in the Dept. of Defense to twenty years of clerical work at a VA Hospital. Started as an Eligibility Clerk went on to become certified as a Medical Record Coding Technician and after even more courses ended up in the Surgical unit as the Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy Program Coordinator. I was the first ESWL program coordinator in the VA system in the US and helped develop the forms and criteria interviewing to establish the base for qualifying patient candidates. |

Well, I majored in Animal Husbandry until I got caught at it.
![]() ![]() Then I switched to a History major with Poly Sci and Philosophy minors. Good decision, in retrospect. `

Are we being overrun here with accountants and English majors?
Wonder what they would talk about in their conversations? |

Accountants and engineers usually stare at your shoes while English majors and journalists wax on.

I went to a secretarial school in Wilmington, DE, and then worked for DuPont, and Mobil until I had our second child. I was a stay-at-home mom for 8 years, during which time I had our third child. Then I returned to work at our local college where I stayed for 25 years.
Am enjoying retirement very much. Hubby worked for the Federal Government for 25 years in a number of capacities. He has a BA from our local college in Administration. He ended up his years in the Federal Government in personnel and EEO. This is a man who never cursed until he worked in an office staffed primarily with women. ![]()

Normally, the only words one hears from an English major are "Do you want fries with that?". An English Major or, god forbid, an English Sergeant Major, would likely have more to say.
