I wonder too TH.

Would you have bothered to start this thread if Rod Blagojevich was just a small time businessman in Mahomet Illinois who was convicted of lying to the FBI about his involvement in a nickel/dime Ponzi scheme?

The point is that Rod Blagojevich is known by just about all Americans. Someone unknown outside of his local area might not get as much press as this jerk has been getting. The media plays some blame, actually lots, in getting this idiot his rise to fame.

We support and make heros out of people like convicted felon Martha Stewart.

Get a popular network television show by being like "Dog The Bounty Hunter." Not only served time for killing somebody, but recently arrested for circumventing the law in Mexico.

We've made folk heros out of bad people like, The bird man of Alcatraz, Billie The kid, Bonnie and Clyde, baby face Nelson, Al Capone.

National celebrity Jerry Springer provides us with an endless stream of the lowest life forms on the planet. OH, wait a minute, he use to be Mayor of Cincinnati.....that would be a political disusion. Sorry!

Now, remember that I too, once ran for public office and even considered running for Congress. So anytime you respond to me, it could be considered political.

General discussion turns political when somebody takes a general topic and paints it with a political brush.

In answer to all of your if's...NO!

Yes but in my case it’s only to try and convince TH to move it to obscurity where it belongs.

But Ed, the question didn't necessarily have to relate to the person mentioned so many times in this particular thread. It could refer to Bonnie and Clyde, Billy the Kid, heck, even Robin Hood is portrayed as a hero. Stealing is stealing if one wants to get nit picky.

What is so appealing about those who decide that they don't have to live by their current society's rules. Honestly, I can't be very specific about why they're so fascinating. I'm sure we all have days when these "villians" spark something primeval in us and other days, we recognize that society does better when most of the rules one has established for the betterment of all, are followed.

Ed, what particular forum do you feel this should be in? It was a legitimate question for this arena in my opinion. Do you feel it's more political? I'll be watching to see if others continue.
