Cool Lived Near

I lived near Woodstock/Bethel and drove to see the action. It was not a fun thing to do..Hard to park, wet and thousands of people. You had to be into it. Up until 2 years ago we still lived (had Summer home) very near Woodstock and entertained ourselves on many weekends by driving into town, having some "Jane Ice Cream" and watching the old hippies sit in the town square, some with their dogs, playing a guitar or just hanging out. There are the small number of young adults who are trying to capture some of the hippie culture and look like something out of the 60's. On Sunday at around noon they get back on the NYC bus to make the trip back to the city. What is interesting is that it has the only flea market I know of where all sorts of drug products, (e.g. pipes, etc.) can be bought. Booths are set up like the ones in the Squares. The Village is still quaint and caters to a lot of NYC people who either come up for the weekend or have summer homes just outside the villages in the mountains. It is a strange mixture of the NYC well to do's doing some shopping or eating at the resturants while in the square is this mix of young and older hippies.

Hey Champion....great work!

Is there any way you can clip and paste to the villages radio station as a reference that they can play this type of music for we "boomers...large and growing" in the Villages???

CJ, my original message obviously states that this will be broadcast on SIRIUS and XM. It occurred to me that you might be able to listen on your television because many cable and satellite providers offer music channels from SIRIUS or XM.

We would go there 7am for eggs and pancakes, after one of those all nighters. Back then there was maybe only handful of places to eat.

The last time I was at the Daytona Beach Flea market one guy had a booth selling bongs and pipes. That was two years ago and I don't know if Florida law has changed. You will get busted here in Ohio for having one in your possession even if it had never been used.

Back in the 60's the thing to have was the Florida "Arrive Stoned" plate on your car. Those would be a collectors item today.

Default Places to Eat

There still were not a number of places to ead. There is a bakery (good one) on main street + an open resturant and also another little resturant just around the corner going north on main street. THere are a couple out of town withint 5-8 miles which are very good. There are a couple more in town.

Your right Champion...can hear it on TV. I was thinking bigger and hoping that we we are at the pools, walking in the town we can hear these songs. The fifties and early sixty's are most of what they (and restauranters) play.

Ahhh, late sixty's and 70's music would be appreciated.

I actually had tickets, but my mother had me picked up by the State Troopers hitch hiking on the NYS thruway. I spent the defining moment of my generation grounded. (I also was only 16)
