Default The War on Happy Holidays

The reason we can expect Trump's war on happy holidays is simple. Like with the NFL controversy, it's part of Trump's twofold strategy. First, it plays to his base. With the NFL debate, Trump framed it as an issue of patriotism and respect for our flag and armed forces. That plays well with his right-wing base the same way demanding everyone say "Merry Christmas" will play well with his conservative Christian base.
Second, these issues distract from Trump's failed record of legislative accomplishments. There has been no Affordable Care Act repeal as Trump promised (though his recent executive orders have certainly undermined it). There has been no comprehensive tax reform yet. There is no shiny new wall along the Mexican border. And the list goes on.
So, come this December, don't expect a politics-free holiday season. Prepare for divisive and ugly partisan divides in stores across America. After all, in Trump's America, why should we expect the holidays to be any different than the rest of the year?

I am not sure that I am a conservative Christian, I certainly don't attend Mass enough to be a good example. I do love Christmas. I like whatever Holiday folks are celebrating around that time. It is a happy family time for most of us.

I have always been annoyed at being told it "wasn't nice to say Merry Christmas". I didn't mean for it to be un-nice. I am only spreading my cheer.

Merry Christmas Melon. A bit early. I am one who doesn't mind seeing decorated Christmas Trees way early.

We just ignore all the pseudo righteous pretense of following a made up doctrine of not offending anybody.

We do and say what we have done all our lives and what is tradition in our families. When someone says happy holiday to me I just tell them where I come from we say Merry Christmas.

And it most certainly does not have, never had and never will have one thing to do with who sits in the WH.

They will probably have the Christmas decorations out in the stores soon.

Rump's highlighting the Merry Christmas saying--
That seems to violate the US Constitution with respect to just supporting Christians while ignoring the other belief systems.

"Reductio ad absurdum" is the only manner in which to respond to these continuing Trump Derangement Syndrome tropes. Its maddening, no logic, no sense, conditional caterwauling every time Trump's name appears...And slowly he turns and step by step...

Personal Best Regards:

Trump saying merry Christmas is a constitutional violation?

Christmas can be a confusing time for me as my group of friends represent many different religons.

Of course I have Christian friends so I say Merry Christmas!
I also have Bhuddist and Hindu friends I wouldn't say Merry Christmas to them. Not that it would insult them, but I am a good friend I need to understand them.
I also have a friend that is Sufi, no Merry Christmas there.
And I have Jewish friends....

Things would be easier if 2 of these religions didn't have a MAJOR holiday at roughly the same time. It's odd that this happened or maybe not because Judism predates Christanity. Nor do we really know when Christ was born.

Once you get outside into the public you just don't know! At those times I say Happy Holidays because there are 2 Holidays being Celebrated.

When did this become an issue? I think I first saw it 2008ish. All of a sudden there was a War on Christmas! Seriously, how is saying Happy Hoidays a declaration of war?
Politicians play us like fiddles, both sides, the create an issue to get us to donate or out to vote!

In my house there is a Bhuddist and a recovering Catholic we celebrate Christmas!

Most of your friends are naive?

OMG...the dilemma you're put in!!! What to do...what to do...so you don't OFFEND anyone!

Politicians...AND the religious leaders. They ALL play us...well you...and take their cut...the customary 10% tithe.

Oh, Fox and the televangelists started it. They have to have a "war" on everything because the authoritarians crave fear. Mexicans, Muslims, immigrants, Sharia Law, gays, transgenders, bathrooms, Jade Helm, Starbucks cups, Target, Kathy what's her name with the Trump head meme, gun control, kneeling on the football field -everything has to get their dander up or they would lose voters and schmucks.

I'd like to get rid of just about everything on that list...

You DO realize that whites have gone from 90% of the population to 49% and it'll be 20% in 30 years.

WHAT do you think "America" will look like with a population of 80% minorities?

So then...WHY do you vote for them? The Ds and Rs? You KNOW they're playing you...and you vote for them anyway? WHY? Why would a person choose someone he KNOWS is out to rip him off?
