The high bond IS supposed to alleviate the thought of one skipping out.
I don't think there is a provision for "excessive" bonds in the constitution, but there is something in it regarding punishment.
The real question is, how did that suspect get taken alive. A cop killer doesn't always get arrested, if you know what I mean.

I am so disgusted with the criminal justice system now (NOTE TO THOSE LEFTIST WHO WAIT FOR A SIGNAL TO CALL RACIST...MY DISGUST HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SKIN COLOR OR HERITAGE)

It seems the rule of law has been overtaken by the rule of politically correct. When I see people simply wandering around with a camera following cops hoping to trap them, thus making the cops very passive, it really is a shame.
