The President does not seem to be hiding the fact that this campaign will NOT be about his record or what he has done nor will it be about his plans for the future. It will be, as folks on here have spoken of before, CLASS WARFARE.
Just a few examples....and a reporter gives us a small personal story... "BOSTON, Mass. — A little birdie must have been sitting nearby during my lunch with a prominent Boston lawyer on Friday. We were discussing — what else? — the presidential elections, and the candidates’ relative chances of success. My lunch partner has worked on the Obama campaign, has donated funds, and is an ardent supporter of the president. His characterization of the Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, was blunt and unflattering: “He may have been the only one in that clown car of candidates who could tie his shoes, but that does not make him good,” he said, over fish and chips in a North Station bistro. But, while he desperately wants Barack Obama to gain a second term, my lawyer friend was not overly optimistic about the odds. “With the economy the way it is, Obama is a dead man walking,” he said. “The only way he can win this is if he turns the whole campaign into class warfare — us against them. But I’m afraid he is too honorable to take that approach.” Well perhaps not too honorable at that. On Monday, the Obama campaign released an explosive video that paints Mitt Romney as a vulture capitalist par excellence, a soulless millionaire interested only in his own profit, and caring not a whit for the little man." Class warfare: Obama I might add that these ads are just plain vicious...would make Saul very proud, and if the President actually approved these ads it speaks directly to his character. It does not jive with his explanation of WHY he is placing them even being questioned by his followers. There is also an article in the Wall St Journal relative to this, but not going to link because it requires a subscription, but I just hate to see this country in such a debate. WHY.....does not make sense. We have had rich presidents in the past....no big issue made of them, why now. There are a lot of issues in this race that make me uncomfortable and I suppose have their basis in the Chicago community organizing, but even that is a bit of a cliche. But this could get nasty.....MSNBC this morning had some polls.....one was asking WHITE STRUGGLING folks who could better help them (I am paraphrasing as I do not recall the exact wording)...Romney won that poll by at lest 15 points. Second question asked of NON WHITE STRUGGLING folks...an Obama wins by 15 points. This is not nice stuff to even see or hear no matter what side of the aisle you come down on. By the time of the debates, nobody on either side will be LISTENING ! |

An accurate description - what's your problem? Seems odd the Cons do NOT want to talk about Willard's time at Bain and the number of companies they destroyed, jobs that were lost, and lives they ruined. |

The sad thing is, I doubt that the POTUS even understands what Bain Capital or a venture capitalist actually does. If he does, although I seriously doubt it, he's betting that the majority of Americans and stupid and don't know. Either way, capitalism is under attack and many dimwits and libs are trying to make work and money dirty words by using class warfare.

if getting the wealthy to pay their fair share in taxes,to get corporate America to pay something,to eliminate corporate subsidies, and get some control of Wall st. then I'm all for class warfare.

Hey, I agree with you that he is as big a )(^&^^%*&& as most republicans, but I also think he can get the economy back on track faster than Obama. Now understand, I am a rich white male so I have a horse in the money race and I am not involved in the poor race.

This is hate campaigning and an attempt to FRAME the other guy. It is and will backfire, and this will make you happy.....polls are changing the more Obama talks and advertises. Instead of acting presidential, he is acting like a third rung candidate who is desperate...and that is well beneath him. Axlerod is really blowing this and doing it early ! Now having said that, it gets even worse when Obama tries to explain WHY he is doing it.....that is painful to listen to and I actually understand what he is saying but in reality he is apologizing for ads that should never have seen the light of day. |

This is interesting but not exactly earth shattering...
"The Obama campaign’s latest attack tells the story of workers at an Indiana office supply company who lost their jobs after a Bain-owned company named American Pad & Paper (Ampad) took over their company and drove it out of business. Here’s what the Obama Web video doesn’t mention: A top Obama donor and fundraiser had a much more direct tie to the controversy and actually served on the board of directors at Richardson, Texas-based Ampad, which makes office paper products. Jonathan Lavine is a long-time Bain Capital executive and co-owner of the Boston Celtics. He is also one of President Obama’s most prolific fundraisers. He has already raised more than $200,000 for the Obama campaign this election, according to Federal Election Commission records. Lavine started working for Bain in 1993. He was one of three Bain executives who served on the board of directors of Ampad for several years, a post he held until 1999. Here’s a news release announcing his departure from the company in April 1999. Lavine’s placement on the board of Ampad suggests he had a more direct role than Romney in the series of events surrounding the layoffs, labor disputes and eventual bankruptcy of the Marion, Ind., factory featured in the Obama campaign video." Obama Donor Tied to Bain Layoffs - ABC News Not surpirsing because I think everyone knows that Obama is talking out of both sides of his mouth, but then again....that is what he does ! And actually, that would not be as big a deal if he did it only as a candidate but he does exactly the same thing as President of the United States |

Hers my take on class warfare.A portion of the very wealthy in this country have quite a thing going. Their goal goes beyond using their influence and money to buy congress and maybe this time the President. They want to control government for a self-serving and short-sighted reason. The end game is having all the wealth and power in the hands of a few billionaires and multinational companies while the rest of us are left to fend for ourselves with NO help from any level of government. I see this as class warfare with the destruction of the middle class as the goal. It is my belief that the Republican party is waging an all out war on the middle class and thepoor. The pattern I see is working people struggling wealthy people getting more and more and republican politicians and Wall st. allied to get more from the working people and give more to the wealthy. What they like to say is that anyone asking for a living wage, health benefits or to close a tax loophole for billionaires is engaging in class warfare.Taking money from the rich to give to the poor is redistribution of wealth but taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich is capitalism.

Gee,,,this President said he had placed all the tight controls over Wall st that it needed, and then we had the latest huge loss which was DIRECTLY related to one of Obama's new structures there. Now, he isnt going to tell you that but I sure hope that Romney does but save it for the debate...the president is so full of contradiction on these issues.... If you really want what you say you want WAYNE...then get after the President to do what he said he was going to do and has ignored....work on the tax code instead of playing politics with it. He had that blue ribbon committee to do that...remember...then he just summarily dismissed them....NOTHING DONE ....YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY.... READ...it is and his entire time in office has been about POLITICS and not the business of the country. You are correct in what you want, you are incorrect in how you are aiming the criticism. BOTH parties are and have been guilty but the man you defend is the one who was "on it"...appointed the blue ribbon and then because it would hurt his party, just dropped it. Lets talk about that in the debates as well ! |

I strongly suggest to some of the partisan parrots do a little research on what companies like Bain actually do. Look very hard at their method. And then most importantly look at their track record when they finally leave the scene.
It is in their best interest to make a sick business well and then sell it as an operating concern VS the unfortunate popular and partisan political belief. Their intent is not to fire people and close down businesses. There is more money to be made selling a going concern than liquidating a business. Do they fire people? Of course they do. They will analyze why a company is not profitable and then take actions....that any RESPONSIBLE management should have taken in the first place. If there are to be "firings" (the word partisan politicians prefer) it usually starts with getting rid of the executives who did not do the job in the first place. Yes they will close down operations that do not contribute to profitability or add value to the company. And yes the people who work there will be either reassigned or let go....many of which should not have ever been added or kept on the payroll in the first place. The number of operations closed down as a percent of the total is some where around 10%. That means 90% are better companies/operations than when the Bain-like folks came in. Having been in that business myself, I am always amazed and never disappointed by the total and complete lack of knowledge by the general public (and obviously ALL politicians). The only subject that seems to get the attention is painting negatively what was done to make the unprofitable companies sound operating entities again. Obama is on the wrong track making the election "about Bain". And according to several articles in various media this morning, more democrats believe the same. And for those of you who are clamoring for a comparison of each candidates (Obama/Romney) past performance......thank GOD you have seen the light. Romney's performance results as a business man will so over shadow the career politician/Obama it will be embarassing. And for those still beating the "rich man" drum.....please keep in mind they are ALL rich with many much richer than Romney. A few weeks ago they stated Obama's worth at ten million....I do believe that is above the threshold of the standard for being rich. As one head line this morning put it...Obama Stumbles out of the gate....his personal attack campaign for thinking people does not work!!!!! Do some research on the venture capital companies....you will become educated while being surprised. btk |

You are saying what the politicians on the left want you to, say however the basic premise of what you say is valid in a way. The tax code needs changing..we all agree...why isnt it being even looked at and why did the President throw aside HIS OWN committee on this....not politically expediant. You seem to have fallen for the mantra of the Democratic party....they are the party of the middle class and poor and Republicans the party of the rich...that is so much pure garbage which has been proven over and over again not to be true. I really ask you to look at what is really happening....I think you will dramatically change your mind. Dont be conned by those RICH RICH Democrats with all the RICH RICH lobbyists telling you how poor they are. READ the lies this man has told about the control of lobbyists, which you were talking about. He has sold out to them..... |
