In the Colorado theater shootings where the shooter was shooting fellow theater goers and saying absolutely nothing, the Democrats and the press were quick to speculate that the shooter was probably affiliated with the Tea Party. Velly intellesting............stupid.......but intellesting. |

The Ft. Hood shooting was an American soldier who went nuts basically because of his Islamic religion and probable pre-existing mental illness. That sounds like a work place shooting. http://abcnews.go.com/Health/MindMoo...ory?id=9019410 |

It wasn't shoddy journalism. Ross and Stepanopolis (sp) knew exactly what they were doing. Every time there is a mass shooting the lame stream media trys to blame a right wing group. As Dan Rather would say, "Fake, but accurate."

Thats exactly right Richie. I picked up on that also. As always, the liberal media jumped the gun probably HOPING it was a tea party person. If it was, he would have been the FIRST reporter to break the news!!! yepee It backfired and he looked like a complete idiot. Many people have the same name therefore a background check is necessary BEFORE releasing any info but this is the type of media we deal with today. Of course the tea party is NOT known for any murders, rapes, crimes, etc...unlike the occupy wall street movement supported by Obama and Pelosi!!

But, did you see this???........Brian Williams was a prime suspect in a double murder............I don't know if the same Brian Williams of NBC News who was speculating if the Tea Party was involved in the Colorado theater shootings, but in the interest of timely reporting, I don't think this info should be ignored. http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/loca...125806523.html |

If in fact Obama said that, and I doubt HE said it, then it was foolish. I suppose it would be technically true that people who are killed on their job site are victims of work place violence.. people shot by disgruntled former employees come to mind, but the Ft Hood killings don't fit that situation. |

the task seems to be how to blame charge some one with killing but not offend them or their race or their religion. Hence the use of that disgusting terminology political correctness (
![]() ![]() And of course we all know that is nothing more than a license to do or say anything that is not wrong or right. For those of us fortunate enough to not be personally involved in the loss of a loved one in these KILLINGS it is oh so very easy to arm chair intellectualize and sanitize the incident. It is so much easier to just face the facts. Was he in the military? Yes. Had he been disparaging the US government prior to the KILLINGS? yes. Is he a Muslim? yes. Was he shouting the Muslim praises to allah while KILLING? yes. Was he connected to Muslim extremists? yes. The conclusion is obvious for many of us. Then when the KILLERS lawyers get involved and do more sanitizing and what they are famous for using or hiding behind the letter of the law....their job is to create doubt....not address guilt or innocence. Then the media will pick up on the lawyers track and assist the KILLER by sensationalizing the means of the KILLING as in go after the GUN aspect. No discipline...too much permissiveness...and far too much tolerance for doing wrong....the watering down of America's values. Yes or no....right or wrong....pretty simple concepts not very often employed by lawyers, the media and the supporters. What is encouraging however is more and more juries are starting to get the message...like the Sandusky jury!! So there is some upside in letting real thinking Americans have the say!! btk |

The killer, by the way, is charged with multiple counts of first degree murder so it is not like he is getting away with the killings. |

I am unable to find any copy of the letter which Senator Collins (Me-R) mentions in her comment, but I was able to find a very lengthy report from DOD on the incident. It was a highly specific and detailed analysis of the shooting but focused ONLY on the internal factors within the DOD where changes in their procedures might decrease the likelihood of a future similar event. The full report of 86 pages is here: http://www.defense.gov/pubs/pdfs/DOD...HR_13jan10.pdf Here is a key quote which is even highlighted within the report on page 7-8 "DoD force protection policies are not optimized for countering internal threats...our commanders must become attuned to behavioral indicators that signal when individuals may commit violent acts or become radicalized" This DoD analysis was not tasked with assigning blame or looking at what other organizations might do to improve the safety of personnel, but was specifically tasked with "how to defend against threats posed by external influences" For those who believe that this report did not include terrorism and Islamic radicalization as one of those external influences I suggest looking at footnote 22 which has 6 references to reports and journal articles on Islamic radicalization. In summary, the DoD, not President Obama, produced a letter to Senator Collins which I have not seen. She characterized it as dealing with work place violence and not terrorism. I suspect, but do NOT know, that the letter deals with the same information as is in the publicly available report where the DoD was asked to determine what it could do differently within its own operations to reduce the possibility of a member of the military becoming a risk to military personnel due to external factors. The word "terrorism" appears 62 (SIXTY TWO) times in the report. |

Perhaps, and I am not a legal expert, calling it an act of foreign terrorism might automatically throw out the death penalty or may put it on trial in another venue where the U.N. or another body would have control over the trial? Just a thought but as I said, I am not a legal expert.
I am sure there was some legal reason. |
