Again for the upteenth time, my topic is not about Trump but it seems every political thread irrespective of the topic results in reductio ad Trumpursun?

Still waiting for your examples of bad or absurd reporting.

I have no problem finding in depth reporting on issues of the day

Then again, I do not read the extreme (Alex Jones, etc) web sites nor the National Enquirer and skip over what you call the Kardashian news.

In the age of Trump, journalism is vital, as it always has been and always will for our democracy.

There will always be people like you who are fascinated with the Kardashian stories but anyone interested in our democracy recognizes the importance of staying abreast of news, AND importantly in today's age the investigative journalism.

Without investigative journalism, Mike Flynn would still be the chief adviser to the White House, even though he cannot even pass a normal screening for a clearance and appears to be a traitor to his country.

Democracy needs journalism and we have good ones.

You and the Russian point of view about ridiculing reporting you do not care for because it is anti your point of view, and it protects our democracy.

The media does a great job, and I say that even though it is a crucial part of this administration and its followers, such as you, to demean the free press, ridicule it and try to shut down truth so the only message is the one you wish to get out there.
Thank you for your excellent post. Those who denigrate good journalism (including the current President) know nothing about our proud history of investigative journalism going all the way back to 1690.

Most of the people who denigrate journalism do so because they watch Fox. Fox constantly puts down education and journalism, because their viewers are neither educated nor do they recognize real journalism.

People should look at some of the journalists on Facebook. I mean like Dan Rather, Robert Reich, etc. They are really showing the problems the Donald John Trump administration is putting on the average Joe.

my friend your own words support my contentions. the news daily is replete with examples of absurdity and people have read it so long they do not even notice difference any longer

I gave a clear and simple blueprint of what they do. You do not seem to be able to link my blue print to actual examples .

People have loss the distinction between real news and social media nonsense ie kardashian journalism "all about nothing".

an example was Melania Trump's trip with her husband to view the catastrophic results of Irma. what did reported focus on melania's shoe wear and they visited many so called talking heads to determine what their view was about her wearing high heels." Was it appropriate?" "What was she thinking?" "Obviously she is not serious person"...reductio ad absurbum

Now do yourself of favor and stop trying to one upmanship me. Better yet I'll make it easier for you and in front of God and the members of this forum by admitting that you are brighter, smarter and wiser than I will ever be. You will always be the winner.

to my way of thinking this forum means "nothing" its the passing of time and to take it seriously is a mistake.

They denigrate it because they KNOW better.

I've been personally involved in events that made the news...what was reported and what actually happened were not the same.

They put down the CURRENT status of "education" which I agree is deplorable. It's been dumbed-down so literally "anyone" (any white person) can pass.

Personal Best Regards:
YOU are the only one who comments on Mrs. Trump's shoes on here......YOU are the only one commenting so much on Kardashian.....YOU are the one who demeans the press at every opportunity...YOU are the one who can never supply any substance (except for the above noted shoe story, which I was not aware of)......

And it is YOU who then turn your inability to even make a salient point into..."You do not seem to be able to link my blue print to actual examples ".. As you have said to me and others on here....I am not going to do your research....if you are going to accuse others, it seems only right that you allow substance.

Right is not what this forum is about, by the way. It is about discussion, but you do not discuss....YOU preach.

I have strong opinions but rarely express them without giving links or supplying the why I feel that way.

If Mrs. Trump's shoe story makes you believe the entire press has
lost their way, then fine....you base your accusations (many and varied) of "fake news", out to get the WH, lying media and such stupid comments on that....ok, that is you.

If you are offended by such stories then go to the front page of a MSM site and not the crap you are reading. You accuse me and others of some kind of syndrome when you find yourself fixated with such trite stuff, I would examine your own self and stop judging and preaching about others. Same media called Mrs. Obama a monkey, but betting that did not raise your hackles.

You are more interested than those you say have a syndrome in destroying something and obsessing on something. You do not like the media.....and you obsess to the point of accusing them of things you cannot prove or even get close to.

This was announced by Putin. This is the Russian way...

"MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin signed into law on Saturday new measures allowing authorities to list foreign media outlets as “foreign agents” in response to what Moscow says is unacceptable U.S. pressure on Russian media."

Russia's Putin signs 'foreign agents' media law | Reuters

Followed in mere hours by Trump tweet...

".@FoxNews is MUCH more important in the United States than CNN, but outside of the U.S., CNN International is still a major source of (Fake) news, and they represent our Nation to the WORLD very poorly. The outside world does not see the truth from them!"

Coincidence ? I doubt it very much. By the way...CNN INTERNATIONAL is the Gold Standard for journalism around the world. They have journalists in every country who have risked their lives to deliver factual reporting. I specifically thought they were outstanding in Syria.

This along with "rumors" our President has been overheard that he would like to see Fox as our "state news" A rumor I will remind you, but sadly, it has a readable ring to it.

Speaking of news sites and a bizarre President, our country should fear this kind of thing seriously.....

His tweet...

"Wow, even I didn’t realize we did so much. Wish the Fake News would report! Thank you. Twitter
6:25 PM - Nov 25, 2017"

The website he was so enamored with....

"The website’s name, MAGAPILL, references Trump’s campaign slogan “Make America Great Again” along with the “red pill” concept popular among the online alt-right and white nationalist movements. Taking a red pill in these circles refers to being awakened to the “reality” of the alt-right worldview, an allusion to a plot device in the 1999 science fiction film The Matrix.

MAGAPILL.com’s website appears to consist of links to archived news items from mainstream media outlets touting successes of the Trump presidency. “MAGAPILL is here to ensure that President Trump’s Legacy is properly documented,” reads the site’s about page.

Trump Tweets Link to Conspiracy Theory Website | The Weekly Standard

"And that’s just one tweet. Among the other crazy and baseless conspiracy theories MAGAPILL has promoted include the politically motivated murder of DNC employee Seth Rich, a cabal of members of Congress involved in satanic rituals and child sex abuse, and the existence of an anonymous internet poster with “Q-level” security clearance who is working to bring down the world order.

The tweet from President Trump appears to have brought an unprecedented amount of traffic to the bare-bones MAGAPILL website—enough to temporarily crash it.

Trump’s promotion of a fake-news site came shortly after another tweet of his blasting CNN’s international channel as “fake news.” The president regularly lobs this epithet at any legitimate news organization that he says is unfair or wrong in its coverage of him.
