What you're talking about is the historic way the Japanese handled their severe dishonor. It is a vibrant analogy, but it will upset those who just see the act and not the historical significance of someone who recognizes his own dishonor.

Your right, but only those ignorant of history will complain. The Japanese were vicious and courageous soldiers and it was an act that restored their honor.
Isn't history wonderful?

Richie,

I am not saying 100% of the under-30 crowd are going for Republicans. I would like to congratulate you on having a school teacher in your family.

No, I do not think I am out of touch with the youths. Unfortunately, I see them at the Christian Food Pantry in Lady Lake getting a supply of groceries. The Food Pantry is not for the chronically unemployed but is a hand-up. No government money is taken there.

I am quite sure those people are not going to vote for an extremist who will cut their small benefits any further.

I admire that you put you time where you mouth is in spending time at the Food Pantry. Bravo!!

But it's still better if we try to get people back to work and off the dole. It's good for their, and our, soul. An environment for job growth is the single biggest favor we can do for the youth and the poor of this country. The ultimate goal should be for each person to enjoy self sufficiency.

I'm pretty sure that the mission of most "Christian" food pantries is to remind people that Obama, nor any president, is not able to solve all their problems. Only God can do that.

I think a lot of people viewing the president as their "savior" is a big part of the problem. Totally unrealistic, and idolatrous toward their Creator.

Yes, one of the biggest rewards in life is receiving the fruits of your labor. Working hard and cashing your paycheck is a "high" that never goes away.

Yes, unfortunately there were people who actually voted for this charlatan because they thought their troubles were over and that Obama was going to deliver the resources to have them live happily ever after without doing anything themselves to improve their situation.

A perfect illustration for the point you're making. Remember this proud and emotional statement by this woman?

It is amazing. I would like to go though all the footage and videos of the things that Obama promised people. Hasn't anybody done this? Again, I do not want to be repetitious but Obama made many statements that were never addressed by the main stream media. The Anointed One is going to go done in history as the biggest sham artist in the history of mankind.

Just a couple of quick things here. No, I am not to be applauded for volunteer work at the Christian Food Pantry. Just giving back a little that I have been so fortunate to receive. However, if anyone wants to donate non-perishable food or a check, the Food Pantry would be happy to accept it.

As I said in the previous post, the idea is not to sustain the clients long-term. Hopefully, they will find jobs that will pay them enough to take care of living expenses. No government money is being used for this project. The idea of the Food Pantry is a short term hand-up.

ILOVETV - Our Food Pantry is non-political completely. "I'm pretty sure that the mission of most "Christian" food pantries is to remind people that Obama, nor any president, is not able to solve all their problems. Only God can do that."

The mission of the Food Pantry is to help people have enough food to serve their families. It is 100% non-political.

Wow, comparing Obama to God? I thought the Anointed One was going to solve all the problems of humankind? Darn, I guess I cannot quit me job yet.

Well, if the youth around my daughters is any indication, Obama is still pretty safe.

Paraphrasing a lot of what I hear is "Well, Obama is disappointing, but there's no way I'd go back to the Republicans since they've declared war on me".

The last part of that statement meaning how the GOP *in their eyes* wants to dismantle the government and put all their corporate cronies in charge.

For example, my 23-year-old daughter pretty much NEEDS public transportation to get to her job. Certainly during the winter when even biking would not be an alternative. Yet the GOP hates mass transit. Now, she lives inthe Philadelphia area so she still has the public transit option.

My younger daughter still lives here in NH and doesn't have that option. Believe me, I'm teaching her all I can about taking care of a car to make it last as long as possible. It's the only way she can get to work and college.

I don't think that VillageGolfer understood my last posting about the Christian Food Pantry.

Neither ILOVETV nor I was comparing Obama to God. Sorry if the message was unclear to you.

The Christian Food Pantry is 100% non-political.

I just think Villagegolfer failed a bit in getting his sense of humor across, but I still think it's real fine of you to give of your time even if you would rather pass on receiving credit for it. I think most volunteers feel likewise.

It would be nice, and I hope it does or can occur, where these same people can be afforded council and provided some inspiration and the tools on how to take their lives back in their own hands. It is far more rewarding to know you have made your own way. But, we sometimes need a hand to accomplish this.

Sometimes I think charitable organizations, and I don't mean the one you volunteer with by any means, help to proliferate the problem by making it too easy and too comfortable to bother struggling any more. It's a real dilemma.

Funny how Bugsy knows what I post when I am on his ignore list.
