Up here, spending seemed to take a back seat to taxes. It was one of my frustrations with the group (locally, anyway).

I mean, in all honesty, the "damage" that could be reasonably expected by having the top tax rate go up 3% is *nothing* compared to the spending spiralling up to who-knows-where.

It seems to me there has to be a top-to-bottom review of taxation and spending because our existing system has been patched, loopholed, ammended, wrenched, fixed, broken, fixed again, broken again and put in a splint more times than I can count. In my industry we'd say that it's been "one-plussed to death" and suffers from "feature creep".

She should have gone to DisneyWorld and spent the money at home. Then her husband could have claimed that he saved more American jobs.

Meanwhile how about GM getting all that bailout money and now spending $500 Million to expand plant in Mexico. Will the Mexican govt welcome undocumented workers coming from the US in search of jobs?

Very good suggestion, Hancle. Or how about going to the Gulf to help their tourist trade. That would show the people that it is safe to vacation there and the oil would not be a problem.

I do believe you have got the plan figured out. In a little more than 2 years BHO will retire and he and the Mrs. will live pretty very well for the rest of their lives. An occasional speech, a few more books, guest appearances on The View and a political analyst job on MSNBC, no trouble getting tee times. He and she will have it made.

Sure wish we could stop talking about this trip, where he was born, etc, and concentrate on...

The ill fated health bill that will bring this economy to its knees if not repealed...but not much to expect when you conceive of a bill that did not address the concerns, was unwanted by the citizens, required back room deals and bribes to pass.

The so called "stimulus" bill...a bill UNREAD by the President or those who voted for it, by all accounts it was 65-70% PORK right after this President made an issue of NOTHING will be signed by him with ANY pork in it.

The total lack of ethics control by the controlling party. BOTH parties get themselves in a bind at times..not just one...but this President again made it a big deal about ethics (as did the Speaker) and now is not going to keep his "czar" of ethics in place !

The favoritism being played by this current administration to unions mostly.

The lack of Presidential press conferences held in prime time and open for questions on any subject. Has this President had any ?

Just a start....you cant change vacations (both parties take them and both get criticized),....you arent going to solve the issue on where he was born....I would love to see discussion on what is actually happening.

Even what we are doing or not doing on the Iran situation....Afghanastan, etc.

but I think this is a well deserved down time because in a few short weeks the campaign will start for real. Do me a favor and repeat your post in a couple of weeks again. I'm still up north and I only have a few weeks to enjoy before the cold weather starts again.

I can't wait to sell this house and get down there.

Nancy Pelosi is at it again, she is calling the House back for a special vote on a 26 Billion dollar stimulus bill to help support our teachers. I thought the 787 Billion we spent on the last Stimulus bill was to help out the Teachers, Firefighters and the economy. Let's not forget we have 421 Billion that we still have in a "Slush fund" that we haven't spent yet, my question is why don't we use that money, why do we need another bill for 26 Billion? Only this Administration can answer that question.
