This is it in a nutshell !!!
Think about it...
The OPEC minister may look you in the eye and say, "We are at war with you infidels and have been since the embargo in the 1970s. You are so arrogant you haven't even recognized it. You have more missiles, bombs, and technology; so we are fighting with the best weapon we have and extracting on a net basis about $700 billion/year out of your economy. We will destroy you! Death to the infidels! While I am here I would like to thank you for the following: Not developing your 250-300 year supply of oil shale and tar sands. We know if you did this, it would create thousands of jobs for U.S. citizens, expand your engineering capabilities, and keep the wealth in the U.S. instead of sending it to us to finance our war against you infidels. Thanks for limiting defense dept. purchases of oil sands from your neighbors to the north. We love it when you confuse your allies. Thanks for over regulating every segment of your economy and thus delaying, by decades, the development of alternate fuel technologies. Thanks for limiting drilling off your coasts, in Alaska, and anywhere there is an insect, bird, fish, or plant that might be inconvenienced. Better that your people suffer. Glad to see our lobbying efforts have been so effective. Corn based Ethanol. Praise Allah for this sham program! Perhaps you will destroy yourself from the inside with theses types of policies. This is a gift from Allah, praise his name! We never would have thought of this one! This is better than when you pay your farmers NOT TO GROW FOOD. Have them use more energy to create less energy, and simultaneously drive up food prices. Thank you U.S. Congress! And finally, we appreciate you letting us fleece you without end. You will be glad to know we have been accumulating shares in your banks, real estate, and publicly held companies. We also finance a good portion of your debt and now manipulate your markets, currency, and economies for our benefit. THANK YOU AMERICA !" You stupid fools! Praise Allah! |

Re: This is it in a nutshell !!!
While anecdotal, it certainly comes close to hitting the nail on the head. The only puzzling aspect of the whole situation whether it be this so called nut shell or my rantings in other posts about the lack of ANY effort for energy independence.....how can it be the so called educated.....the influential....all those who like to think they know how to make things happen....all the so called brilliance in Washington, DC....just why is it NOBODY does anything about it.
Has the silent majority been apathetic so long they don't care? Is it just SOME of us old farts remember when something needed to be done we (the USA) did it. Well I thank GOD every day for having been a part of history when the USA .....was great....WAS a leader.....used to care about it's people...... What is it going to take to get the current generation to wake up and rescue our great nation that is in a rapid state of deterioration. And please don't insult our intelligence with any of the usual partisan blame gaming....that is BS as well as part of the problem. Anyway, the whole subject of lack of response to energy independence is obvious....even here on this forum. No body wants to stand and be counted for fear they say it wrong...do it wrong...don't appear as they THINK one should......well just puff out your chest...be proud to be an American....dump the partisan weenie positioning....and take a stand!! Re: This is it in a nutshell !!!
Gee, don't you thinks it's our own fault. We keep electing the same dip sticks to serve us in Washington. They are only concerned about getting reelected. Let's get with Florida and have term limits. This way they can only make so much money from us legally and from lobbyists. I'm sure we can find some folks who share our thoughts about real energy independence.

If we're dumb enough to keep them in office for longer than any of us ever held a job, I can't blame them for being smart enough to take advantage of it. Just don't buy the BS that "I'm here for you...and we've won...and this is our victory." What did "we" get? ? ? |

Re: This is it in a nutshell !!!
When we wise up as a Nation and 99.99% of eligible voters take the time to educate themselves and understand the issues and the candidates start telling the truth and not just send out soundbites and once elected, fail to stick with their promises to the American people.
Our Nation has lost it's way because of the polarization of Parties and the obedience to special interests and disregard for the American People and what's best for The Country. We have problems at home that need fixing-- -Open Borders -Decaying Infrastructure -Inability to do what is right, instead of what makes us feel good for the moment. -Loss of manufacturing jobs -Outsourcing of jobs formerly done by middle income folks -A decades long lack of leadership in the development and implementation of a real energy policy designed to lead to energy independence -A world class affordable healthcare system that is not accessible to all citizens. -Poliical and Business Leaders that have lost interest in what is best for the Country and are only focused on getting re-elected and on their own compensation plan. -A Tax structure that is too difficult, if not impossible to understand, by most and is less than fair for all but a small minority of the weathiest individuals and corporations that have the benefit of loopholes that enable them to pay nothing or, less than their fair share.. Internationally - We can no longer act like we are the World's moral authority and Policeman - Other developed and developing countries must start handling their share and not just look to the USA and then forget to show their appreciation. I wish that the next election will change all of this, but for now, I still have doubts that either of the candidates will change anything. Someone said that All Change Must Come From Within . I believe that as I also believe, we wont see any real change in this Country until all of us change. |

The November election will also have every seat in the House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate up for grabs. THAT"S where "change" is needed, as they write the laws, levy the taxes, spend the money and determine what's next on the agenda list. |

Re: This is it in a nutshell !!!
Trouble is, everyone dislikes and has no respect for Congress as a body and it's members individually. However, everyone loves their own Rep/Senator. I saw a poll yesterday that rated how highly Americans viewed various institutions/occupations. Congress ranked at the bottom with a 5% approval rating, below HMOs. Yes in November, 90+% will be reelected, most overwhelmingly. Whose fault is it? Congressman Bilgewater might be a scum sucking dog who'd sell his soul for a campaign contribution or a job for his brother-in-law for 23 months, but come November, he's the guy that got the $20,000,000 of federal money for the Nose Hair Clipper Hall of Fame and Museum. |
