Default The President and his speeches....

A great EDITORIAL on our President and his speeches...

"Six months into his presidency, with more surely to come, it is an appropriate moment to ask: What is the point and purpose of Barack Obama's speeches?

One answer -- offered by students of talk from Aristotle through Alfred North Whitehead -- is obvious: The purpose of the rhetorician's art is to persuade. John Locke, watching democracy's advance, had a darker view; rhetoric, said Locke, is an instrument of error and deceit. Or both: talking people into error."

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/art...hes_97490.html

Did you hear what he told students while in Russia...he told them the cold war ....here is his quote...

"And then, within a few short years, the world as it was ceased to be. Now, make no mistake: This change did not come from any one nation. The Cold War reached a conclusion because of the actions of many nations over many years, and because the people of Russia and Eastern Europe stood up and decided that its end would be peaceful."

Diplomacy perhaps, but facts are that this country stood tall and if we had not the Soviet Union was lookng for world domination and was in the process of making a mockery of any human rights, etc. Maybe you dont talk about this to be diplomatic but if you talk about it tell the truth. Why is he accepting of lies told about this country ?

More from the link....

"With one notable exception -- health care -- there is a disconnect between the scale of Mr. Obama's ideas and his actions, and sometimes even reality, as when he says a U.S-Russian commitment to a world without nuclear weapons would be the "legal and moral foundation" for persuading the world's rogues to do the same. What, exactly, comes after the moral foundation?"

He is a man with what someone on here or somewhere referred to as having a "messiah" attitude about himself.....pretty words....ONLY !

Default There was a very well spoken politican in Eorope during

the late 30's and early 40's who did that very thing.
And he thought he was the messiah.

Self induced...self proclaimed....gobbled up by we the people (them at the time)

like too many here today!

The end result will follow history also.....hopefully in as short a time.

Oh pleez....now he is the second coming of Hitler??? Commie, Socialist, Facist...your list is endless.

I remember Bush going out on the stump to sell us on privatization of Social Security. That is what a politician does....What do think all those speech's this fall were? The candidates were selling us on their ideas.

And what do you mean by this:

If Obama follows the history you claim then we will have a world war and 6 million Jews and other undesirables gassed and then a burned body in a courtyard. Is that the history you meant?

I am sure he meant his own demise...which more and more people are hoping each and every day.

When President Bush "went out on the stump" nobody wanted to talk about it.....even though he was right and everybody knew it.

Bush made a suggestion and told the country that SS was in trouble. When he made his suggestion on privatization, he also said VERY CLEARLY that it didnt have to be that, he simply wanted conversation on the subject. This is what Speaker Pelosi said at the time...

"Indeed, in a May 10, 2005 news release, Pelosi declared, "There is no Social Security crisis. We all agree that there is a problem down the road that we should address before it becomes a bigger problem,” she said. But Congress, under Pelosi’s leadership, did nothing about it."

Bush never got a chance to "stump"...he was mocked and laughed at....I wish I could find Harry Reid's sarcastic comment at the time. The Democrats laughed and said there is no problem (similiar to what they said about Fannie Mae, etc in 2006) NOW speaker Pelosi BLAMES Bush !

So he did not go around the country "stumping" as you say....he made a few speeches most of which at best were sound bites on the evening news.

PRESIDENT OBAMA has his own campaign group paying for ads to broadcast over television..paid for by his POLITICAL GROUP !!!!

I doubt if you read the article but I can supply more if you want. NO President has been on tv MAKING SPEECHES even close to what this President has done and it is always SELLING !

READ THE ARTICLE...it is not a slanted politically article,...it simply points out that he is the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES...stop campaigning...strike a different tone like you think this country is as worthy as those you are always complimenting.

I say that we should lock Obama in the Oval Office, without camera's or teleprompters, for 6 months so the country can recuperate from the last 6 months. Tend to business and stop campaigning.

Yes he was right... and people are finally seeing BHO's true colors and realizing he is full of BS as his approval rating has been in a steady decline since he took office. It has dropped 33 points with a current negative rating, meaning that more people strongly disapprove of what he is doing than approve.

Don't throw your hankies out. The way the Community Activist in Chief's ratings are diving....hopefully in 2010 you will need them again.
