Good post.

My concerns on this ban are a little different.

I understand the concern for Islamic terrorism. BUT we have been told a few things that just do not add up. First, we excluded Turkey from the list. If you research, you will find Turkey is about 100% Muslim, and maybe the centerpiece for terrorism activity.

Secondly, we are told this is a TEMPORARY BAN while the vetting process is insured to be rigerous. When will we hear about the results of the vetting process study, and who is doing that study ? From every expert I have heard our vetting is just about second to none.

I do agree that the paranoia is simply racism. This is not new your country, as you point ou, and we are not perfect, but how many days, months, years have we listened to our President tell us how bad Mexicans were, Muslims are bad. I hope we are not that weak to succumb to a candidate being able to tell us whom we should hate.

And FDR's decision was a very poor one.

Completely agree with FDR's decision regarding the Japanese internment. We were at war, they sank our carriers and attacked us first. California and the entire west coast was in imminent danger of being attacked. His decision was based on the current events and feelings at that time.
Also, Italian & German Americans were interned as well albeit not on the same scale.

Perhaps you should study your military history better. NO CARRIERS were sunk at Pearl Harbor. It would have taken Japan their entire Navy to have launched an attack on California, but, of course, America did not know that...his decision was a terrible reaction that we should not let happen again....

The Irish had no beef with America...it was a local problem. Muslims DO have a problem with America.

Maybe so...but we DO work to PREVENT those things for happening...we've confined most of the minorities into the inner city slums where they only kill each other. We're aggressive with drunk driving...when IS the last time you heard of a drunk driver killing someone around here? For sharks, they watch and post signs, keep people out of the water. We're always being warned about lightning and the dangers, told to go indoors when lightning is close. So why not warn about possible terrorism? We did have 911.

I don't think so...I don't think "we" are making America a nightmare...that is the doing of the 51% percent minority population that has dragged the country down from #1 in the 50s to #25 now as THEY become the majority. Your fears are misplaced.

It was ALLOWED to happen...we KNEW it was coming...they wanted into the war and they knew this would be the key.

Deaths-from-Terrorism-in-2015-4.jpgMuslims seem to have more problem with other Muslims worldwide, than America...

Sorry, but I do not remember any IRA terrorist attacks on American soil. Perhaps you can enlighten us.

YOu do realize that your comment is just plain stupid, right?

America and the IRA were essentially on the same side, fighting the same enemy, but they had very poor timing.
Almost exactly 100 years too late...

And the few "Radical Islamic Terrorists" that actually did harm on American soil came from countries that Trump excluded from his travel ban.....go figure, and I realize your comment is just plain stupid....

Hmm. John Stuart Mill...
"I have no difficulty in admitting that Communism would even now be practicable among the elite of mankind, and may become so among the rest."

Did you intend to reply to my comment or are you still confused with the answer I gave? My comment was referring to the "IRA" point, in case that went over your head. Wow! Apparently, if you have no clue how to participate in the discussion, you just divert.

Actually, Japan DID attempt to attack California.

Bombardment of Ellwood - Wikipedia

And the decision made by the president for internment was as much for the safety of the Japanese as for the Americans. It's easy for someone to Monday morning quarterback, WAY after the fact.

Yes, a submarine did attack California and lobbed 16 shells into an oil center, with little damage....but I again say that any FULL attack on the western edge of the USA would have required the entire Japanese fleet, which they were not willing to do.....plus the fact that there were STILL NO CARRIERS SUNK AT PEARL HARBOR. And, when we look at history, the standard is that we should learn from our mistakes.....not repeat them

Anyone want to proffer a guess, as to why there were only about 11,000 German's in the US put into internment camps in WW11...versus the 110,000+ Japanese that were interned (over 60% AMERICAN CITIZENS)?

It couldn't have anything to do with the fact that the Japanese 'looked different' than the white Germans...could it?

Given the current hysterical prejudice against 'brown-skinned people'...I guess things will never change for bigots and racists.

What "his-story"? The "history" that keeps changing depending on who is in power?

What you THINK is "history" is usually propaganda. "History" IS written and rewritten by the winners...and the new "winners" are the minorities. They ARE rewriting "history".
