Sanders will never get the establishment support. The DNC will drop him like a hot potato and get someone that will toe their line. He's not a Democrat.

He said that from the start. I don't know enough about this but if he says he wants to run as a democrat can the party say no right from the get go?
And if the DNC had that option why didn't they do that?
