How about validating what you THINK or have an opinion about with current events? That will require deviating from the talking points tactical point of view.....but give it a try! |

"President Castro, I think,"
That's the first 4 words of the Obama quote. That's diplomacy, the art of dealing with people in a sensitive and effective way. I don't see it as weakness or bowing down to anyone. By choosing the words "I think" he can change or twist Castro's words anyway he wants if that works for our position. If the other person says he got it wrong there is no loss of face on either side. |

Obama may be a pinko communist, but Castro is a pure red communist. Hope Obama enjoyed his visit to Communist Cuba, while the invisible, non-existent terrorists are bombing our allies. No big deal, he's already retired and the only loose end is his request for an 18% increase in his retirement pension.

After all, we wouldn't want him to leave the White House, dirt poor like the Clintons and have to resort to stealing gov property like the Clintons did when they left.

So does anyone here disagree with the goals of excellent health care, old age security, and high quality education? If you don't disagree that those are worthy goals and legitimate interests of government, then you agree with Obama. Is it not possible that our "enemies" also have done some things right? Did Stalin rally his country at great sacrifice against the Nazi machine? Have the Viet Cong not lead to a stable and economically vibrant country? In this country, is it not likely we have made mistakes both in policy and execution? No system is perfect, neither perfectly good nor bad.
Obama has acknowledged historical missteps. Slavery was wrong. The decimation of our native population and culture was wrong. Apparently saying sorry is perceived as a weakness. I am sorry I believed that our ships were attacked in the Gulf of Tonkin and that if we did not stop Communism in Vietnam the whole of Asia would fall. I am sorry for the hubris America sometimes displays in telling other nations what is best for them. And with all that I am proud to be American and recognize that we are a great country. And I am glad that we have a President who has enough intellectual subtlety and gracious humility to not be a bully or a blowhard. |

I'll try to help you catch up to 1976. Fidel served as prime minister until 1976, when he became president of Cuba. |

In 2011, Raúl also instituted a two-term limit for the office of president (each term is five years), and when he was reelected in 2013, he announced his plans to leave politics at the end of his second term.
Don't you ever get to leave TOTV to look something up? Do they use Net Nanny in your school? Did you fool me? Am I helping you with your homework? |

Take TWO I'm sorry, you're right. Just about everything I write seems to be slammed by someone so I judged too quickly. I reread your questions and there is not an once of sarcasm or malice in what you asked. I'll try not to do that again. |
