OK. I am sure that there is a scientific study somewhere that shows that rats were given cancer by exposing them to 2nd hand smoke. But, I value my time too much to go chasing around and finding a study that PROVES WHAT IS INTUITIVELY LOGICAL to myself. Namely, since smoking produces cancer ; 2nd hand smoke indoors MUST produce cancer. Sometimes, I am fine with intuition. For example, I don't personally need to measure the curvature of the earth to not believe in a flat earth society.

Interestingly, those statements are both right and wrong at the same time.

Yes, there are plenty of studies linking cancer to second-hand smoke---and while many are just agenda driven, there are many legitimate studies as well

However, the "logic" of smoking causes cancer therefore second-hand smoke must as well is deeply flawed. There are significant differences between what the smoker inhales and what he exhales-----just as there are significant differences between what we eat and what----well, you know the rest :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Obama was not the first black president for 2 reasons.

(2). Ask Obama's mother.

Narratives are fine, but a data-driven study is what works in the field of science. You can assume and believe anything you wish, but there is no data to support your claims -- just like man-made global warming.

Your claims are on target, so it must be the "poster" which probably claimed man is causing climate change or something silly like that.

That was edible until the part ... "most likely caused by greenhouse gas emissions" ... which is junk science. Notice that they never say how much "man-made" CO2 warmed the earth last year. Any fool can make that claim. Only "data" can prove it.

OK. Another attempt to rewrite history, very similar to the oft-mentioned 7 years of cooling that popped out of some fever dream. In the US it is generally assumed that people with an amount of Black DNA may speak of themselves as Black (if they wish). And I believe that President Obama spoke that way of himself. Incidentally, Obama and Fauci would make a strong 2 on 2 basketball team.

I believe that History will go along with the 80% of scientists who state that Global Warming is taking place and that the cause is likely human use of fossil fuel engines. We here in Florida will likely be further exposed to the detriments of Global Warming and come to more respect Mother Nature in the next 3 to 5 years. So, we will be able easily to INTUITIVELY know that Global warming exists (like the 80% of scientists today do). Likely, in that short time period, Florida will be hit with one or more KILLER hurricanes. We will measure further increase in ocean level rise. We will see further loss of precious reef coral due to further CO2 increases and more acid bleaching. We and Europe will have to deal with 1,000 southern natives per day pouring into our borders due to dislocation from climate change. (that will be difficult as it's happening today)

So, the US and Europe need to be working on those problems rather than spinning their wheels and listening to the 20% of scientists, likely on the oil and gas payroll, that are Climate Change deniers.

Thar you go again with a "belief" in something. Happy religion, happy beliefs. I prefer to sick with data -- where none prove man causes climate change. In the past many "believed" CFC's caused ozone holes, and got suckered into paying more money for less efficient cooling gases. Note: the sun makes ozone, and lack of sun makes holes in the ozone because ozone is unstable and breaks apart during night hours. Those holes just keep coming and going, just like the 4-seasons.

I've concluded that climate change deniers don't really want to listen, and they don't really care about future generations. It's a head in the sand mentality. The scientific community has reached consensus about the issue, and it is supported by data. Pick up any reputable Science journal and you will find that to be the case. e.g. November Scientific American - Meltdown is faster than expected.

The bigger question is what to do about it.

As I posted in the other climate thread…

Perhaps all the hand wringing and head shaking will cease soon. Did anyone see the headlines yesterday stating US Scientists have made a major breakthrough in ‘limitless, zero-carbon’ fusion energy discovery? I would think if we can develop a vaccine in less than a year, we should be able to develop this fusion energy with lightspeed shortly, if this pans out. This appears to be phenomenal news!

YES! The 1st paragraph pretty much is a "drop the mike" definitive Scientific statement on the VALIDITY of Global Warming and the need to mitigate against it.
......Apparently, the REAL scientists in Saskatchewan published their report WITHOUT consulting our vaunted, world-renowned Weather Club. Those stupid "Canucks", how dare they!

So, the consensus of 99% of the scientific papers is that Climate Change is real and is caused by humans. The 1% that disagree can't be replicated or have errors. I guess that I am going to have to revise my 80% figure significantly UPWARD. Well, live and learn! I imagine that the Weather Club is happy to have that 1% distinction. Maybe they sell T-Shirts saying, "We are the PROUD 1% Climate Change deniers. Maybe they can stay for the next club meeting in the same room.......the Flat Earth Society.

You have to LOVE the grit and tenacity to stand up against the opinions of 99% of Climate Scientists. Sort of like the Spartans who were outnumbered 100 to 1 by the Persians at the famous Battle of Thermopylae!

The bigger question is what to do about it.

Absolutely, exactly. The Federal and State governments and even local senior centers need to provide money or tax credits to owners of hybrid vehicles, E-vehicles, E-bikes, and E-golf carts. Efforts should be made to limit the population of the world's biggest CO2-producing countries - the US and China. Overpopulating a country's resource capacities has historically resulted in wars and famine.

The world currently has both wars and famine going for it. People are streaming north to enter the US at a rate estimated to grow to 1,000 per day due to famine in areas of South America and general greed for wealth. People are streaming north from Africa to get to Europe due to Global warming making their countries uninhabitable. Poor countries are busy starving and rich countries are busy burning excess fossil fuel, which makes the earth's problems greater. Eventually, these 2 groups will clash, with neither of them remembering that the root cause of their problems was Global Warming. Meanwhile back in the USA, most people are NOT even mentioning Global Warming or even outright denying its existence. Hard to SOLVE a problem that isn't talked about routinely on TV.

Fusion energy IS a great development and has FUTURE great potential. But, will it be here quick enough to reverse ALL the problems caused by Climate Change, or will that take 5 decades? Will the people in South America and Africa be willing to return to their original countries........I don't think so!

If this is confirmed to be viable, you won’t be able to stop it and it will evolve full speed. Contrary to some beliefs, the earth is not going to collapse from climate change in ten years.

I don’t understand your desire to return African and South Americans to their original countries. Surely that isn’t meant to be racist…

Guess what? If it takes 5 decades that will be fine, since the global warming people are worried about won't max out for another 20-25,000 years

Not racist, just a matter of numbers. Too many NUMBERS of people are coming in. I don't care if they are white, black, brown, yellow, green or purple. Global Warming is caused by TOO MANY humans driving vehicles that are burning fossil fuel. The US and China are the top polluters. So the solution would be to have fewer people driving and fewer fossil fuel burners. A centuries-old, great philosopher once said that wars and pestilence will control population. OK. As far as pestilence goes the US has already lost 1 million souls to the Pandemic and it's not yet over. And maybe it is cooking up another variant. Since we live in an interdependent world, things like trade and airline travel can spread diseases around rapidly. As far as war goes, the world seems to be devolving into 2 groups - free and dictatorship. That leaves a lot of potential for a nasty conflict. And China has a ton of people and not so much natural resources. And their rivers are drying up as are Europes and ours. (courtesy of G.W. - Global Warming)

As far as fewer people go......I would propose that besides tight borders and minimum immigration, the US could have started in about 1950 to give tax credits for ONLY 2 children maximum. Today that may have limited the US population to about 250 million, which would have increased the GNP per person and be about right for today's infrastructure. But, it may be too late now and we will be controlled against our will by wars and pestilence.
........All of that forms a base of a pyramid with Global Warming being closer to the peak with respect to the factors that have driven the last 7 out of 8 years to be the warmest on earth. And the further prediction for increases for the next 30 years. Meanwhile, we are ignoring warning signs like animal species extinction, ocean rise, and the coral bleaching effect. And there are numerous other signs being ignored !

OK, so you are guaranteeing no climate collapse in the next 10 years. I am guaranteeing that in the next 3 to 5 years that Florida will get hit with MORE killer hurricanes and preparation and lessons learned from Hurricane IAN will be MINIMAL. Miami will keep getting flooded. In 10 years the earth and the US will be much hotter with lots of fires and rivers and lakes drying up. Nuclear weapons will be deployed on regular basis. In 10 years wars and pestilence will be common factors. Also by 2100 90% of ALL coral reefs will be dead. Signed Nostrajimjam.

This is politically polluted and you are dwelling on a fossil fuel fixation which fusion energy would greatly reduce or in the long term, eliminate.

If reducing the population is the answer, why wasn’t China successful in this endeavor?

Your’s and my end date are looming and your climate obsession has taken so much of your time, life quality is missing. I would go into a longer explanation of why many of your statements are flawed but I won’t go political.

How do you get up in the morning? I guarantee the climate won’t collapse in ten years. I can’t guarantee you or I will be alive in ten years.
