Yes, there are plenty of studies linking cancer to second-hand smoke---and while many are just agenda driven, there are many legitimate studies as well However, the "logic" of smoking causes cancer therefore second-hand smoke must as well is deeply flawed. There are significant differences between what the smoker inhales and what he exhales-----just as there are significant differences between what we eat and what----well, you know the rest :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl: |

I believe that History will go along with the 80% of scientists who state that Global Warming is taking place and that the cause is likely human use of fossil fuel engines. We here in Florida will likely be further exposed to the detriments of Global Warming and come to more respect Mother Nature in the next 3 to 5 years. So, we will be able easily to INTUITIVELY know that Global warming exists (like the 80% of scientists today do). Likely, in that short time period, Florida will be hit with one or more KILLER hurricanes. We will measure further increase in ocean level rise. We will see further loss of precious reef coral due to further CO2 increases and more acid bleaching. We and Europe will have to deal with 1,000 southern natives per day pouring into our borders due to dislocation from climate change. (that will be difficult as it's happening today) So, the US and Europe need to be working on those problems rather than spinning their wheels and listening to the 20% of scientists, likely on the oil and gas payroll, that are Climate Change deniers. |

I've concluded that climate change deniers don't really want to listen, and they don't really care about future generations. It's a head in the sand mentality. The scientific community has reached consensus about the issue, and it is supported by data. Pick up any reputable Science journal and you will find that to be the case. e.g. November Scientific American - Meltdown is faster than expected.
The bigger question is what to do about it. |

I would call the global warming deniers the proponents of junk science.

As I posted in the other climate thread…
Perhaps all the hand wringing and head shaking will cease soon. Did anyone see the headlines yesterday stating US Scientists have made a major breakthrough in ‘limitless, zero-carbon’ fusion energy discovery? I would think if we can develop a vaccine in less than a year, we should be able to develop this fusion energy with lightspeed shortly, if this pans out. This appears to be phenomenal news! *Notice I didn’t say implement, I said develop… |

......Apparently, the REAL scientists in Saskatchewan published their report WITHOUT consulting our vaunted, world-renowned Weather Club. Those stupid "Canucks", how dare they! |

You have to LOVE the grit and tenacity to stand up against the opinions of 99% of Climate Scientists. Sort of like the Spartans who were outnumbered 100 to 1 by the Persians at the famous Battle of Thermopylae! |

The world currently has both wars and famine going for it. People are streaming north to enter the US at a rate estimated to grow to 1,000 per day due to famine in areas of South America and general greed for wealth. People are streaming north from Africa to get to Europe due to Global warming making their countries uninhabitable. Poor countries are busy starving and rich countries are busy burning excess fossil fuel, which makes the earth's problems greater. Eventually, these 2 groups will clash, with neither of them remembering that the root cause of their problems was Global Warming. Meanwhile back in the USA, most people are NOT even mentioning Global Warming or even outright denying its existence. Hard to SOLVE a problem that isn't talked about routinely on TV. |

I don’t understand your desire to return African and South Americans to their original countries. Surely that isn’t meant to be racist… |

As far as fewer people go......I would propose that besides tight borders and minimum immigration, the US could have started in about 1950 to give tax credits for ONLY 2 children maximum. Today that may have limited the US population to about 250 million, which would have increased the GNP per person and be about right for today's infrastructure. But, it may be too late now and we will be controlled against our will by wars and pestilence. ........All of that forms a base of a pyramid with Global Warming being closer to the peak with respect to the factors that have driven the last 7 out of 8 years to be the warmest on earth. And the further prediction for increases for the next 30 years. Meanwhile, we are ignoring warning signs like animal species extinction, ocean rise, and the coral bleaching effect. And there are numerous other signs being ignored ! |

This is politically polluted and you are dwelling on a fossil fuel fixation which fusion energy would greatly reduce or in the long term, eliminate. If reducing the population is the answer, why wasn’t China successful in this endeavor? Your’s and my end date are looming and your climate obsession has taken so much of your time, life quality is missing. I would go into a longer explanation of why many of your statements are flawed but I won’t go political. |
